Hi Guys....
seems like all I do lately is post requests for prayers....<sigh> sorry about that.
My daughter and her boyfriend came up for a visit from VA to MI last weekend, as some of you know. The last I heard from them was on Sunday afternoon, when they arrived in IL to visit her boyfriend's parents. They were headed from there back to VA, where they were supposed to be back at work on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
No one has heard from them since.
I've called her father and grandmother in VA - neither of them have heard from them. I've called both of their cell phones - they are turned off (I'm assuming for non-payment of the bill, as the message says "temporarily out of service"). I've called their workplace (they both work at the same fast food restaurant) - they haven't called in or checked the schedule to see when they are supposed to work. They are supposed to start back to work on Thursday, but no one there has seen or heard from them, so they wouldn't even know they are supposed to be at work on Thursday. My daughter's dad drove by the place they live at - no car. That doesn't mean they're not around somewhere, but it's not a good sign. They are late sleepers as they usually work late at night, so they sleep until noon or later, so the car not being there before noon is not a good sign.
They were traveling on very little money - much less than what I would consider a safe amount for this type of trip (over 1300 miles round trip), and I am worried that they have gotten stranded somewhere and run out of cash. They also had no car insurance - something they didn't want me to know, but the boyfriend let it slip while they were up here that they didn't have any.
I'm torn between being really ticked off that they haven't called (from a payphone or something - anything), and being very worried that maybe they are in a situation where they can't call.
Sorry for the long post...but please keep a good thought and prayer in mind for my daughter and her boyfriend. If they are safe and haven't called, they'll need it, because this mom is going to be pretty angry with them if that's the case.
If there's something else going on, I don't know how I'm ever going to find out. I'm not going to call out the cops looking for them until I know for certain that they haven't been back to their residence or to work on Thursday.

Oh my goodness! Suebee, I will definitely keep them in my prayers. I'm so sorry. I know you must be worried sick. Just want you to know I'm thinking about them and you and will only think positive things.

I am so sorry to hear that you haven't heard back from them yet. I am sure it is like Frogpatch said.. I am praying they call you and just say .. Mom we forgot we were just being crazy kids.
After reading your post, I can see how my Mom felt when I did stuff like that.. and how I am going to feel when my now 6 yr old does this later in life.

Ok guys...update time.
My daughter finally called around 2:30 this afternoon. From Illinois. They never left Illinois after they arrived there Sunday. So they sat there for 2 whole days, knowing full well they didn't have the money to get back to VA and would be coming back to my house - and didn't bother to call and tell me - or anyone else, for that matter.
They bought food with the money they were supposed to use to get back to VA. They have enough to get back to my house, but that's it. So they will be on my doorstep sometime tonight. Looks like they will be moving in with me sooner than I thought.
I am drafting a contract between all three of us regarding how this living arrangement will work, and all three of us will need to sign it. We are going to have a LONG conversation about responsibility and consideration for others when they get there tonight.
Thank you for your prayers and thoughts - just when I thought things were getting better....BANG. I'm glad they're safe and nothing bad happened...but we have a very long road ahead of us now.

I just read this. I am so sorry sue that you had to go through that worry in the first place, but I am glad that everyone is alright (at least until you get a hold of them LOL). I wish you the best with the living arrangements.

Sue , I think drafting up the contract is an excellent idea. A friend of mine did it with her kids, and once they knew she was serious, it worked like a charm.
I am very glad that they are ok. Yes you have a long road ahead of you, but we are here if you need us

Sue, thank God they are ok. I am so relieved, I was really worried about them. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers-I know you have a lot on your plate right now. She is sure lucky to have you for a mom.

Wow...I started reading and my heart was in my throat and then I saw you heard from her. Thank God...but you are oh so right...contract or not they need to know and abide by the rules or else!!! I have been through something similar with my daughter so I know all too well what was in your mind and heart SueBee....Good Luck to all of you...
