Hi everyone...
I will not be on for a while. I have to make the trip this weekend to take my boys to their dad's for the summer.
Normally, we meet halfway (we live a few states apart), but he called late last night to say his mother (86 yrs old) is going downhill and he really would like the boys to see her before something happens. With that in mind, he has asked me to make a much longer trip than I had originally planned. More like me going 90% of the way to his state, rather than meeting halfway. This will allow him to pick up the boys and head to the state his mother is in. He is helping pay for part of the gas, but it will still be a very tight trip financially. I've had to take an additional vacation day to accommodate this, and I'm not terribly comfortable driving my van that far when I haven't had it all checked over like I normally do before a long trip.
So, with all that said, please keep a prayer in mind for myself and my kids this weekend. The added stress has made it a bit hard for me to sleep, so I'm not in the best condition for this trip.
Also, my internet connection at home is down - completely - and my cable company (God love 'em) says expect a 5-10 day repair time. So I won't be on much at all until that comes back up.
Thanks!

Please be careful and at least check your tires for wear and pressure. If you get tired do not push yourself. You have my prayers to have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Sue, please be safe. I will be thinking of you and the boys. Let us know when you can that you made it there and back safely. Like frogpatch said, don't push yourself. Try to relax and enjoy the trip.

I will be praying for your safe trip with the boys also Suebee. I know how scary those long trips with children can be when you are the only adult and unsure about how reliable your transportation is.

Thank you all - surprisingly, my internet connection is UP this morning....but I don't know for how long. It came on for 30 minutes yesterday and went back down, so it might be a temporary thing.
I really appreciate the good wishes from everyone...it means a lot to me! We're just getting around and packing up now, and once the W.U. arrives with the extra money for the trip (sometime this afternoon), we'll decide if we're leaving today or very early tomorrow morning.

Sue,
Good to see you on today. I've been thinking about you. We always started late at night or early in the morning when going on long road trips. I wish I could go with you to keep you company

Thanks everyone - we've finally started to pull all the little "strings" together for this trip, and I'm feeling less stressed than I was this morning - especially since I just filled my gas tank for $2.97 a gallon, as opposed to $3.17 which it was yesterday! WOOHOO!
We're leaving tomorrow morning, EARLY...we'll be up and out before the chickens. We have someone watching the house & dogs, neighbors are aware we're leaving and when I'll be back, cell phone is charged & has minutes, van is gassed up, tires and all fluids checked & filled, van vaccuumed out, my daughters STUFF loaded in the back (freeing up my big hall closet - YAY!), and suitcases are almost completely packed. All that's left now is to pack the ice chest with food, load the suitcases in the van, and head off down the road.
I guess it's just the ENORMITY of the task ahead that sometimes turns me on my ear and totally stresses me out. Once I have the preparations in place, I feel much better.
