Taking on the IRS beast

I owe the IRS about $25K in taxes. I am taking care of all my other collections one at a time. But this one is a big beast and I fear it may rear it's ugly head soon.
I've printed off a bunch of information on the OIC and all the forms. It looks kind of looooonnnnggggg complicated. I read somewhere that if you owe more than $25k you should get a tax professional to help. And if you owe between 10-25K, you could probably do it on your own. Has anyone ever worked with a tax professional? What do they charge typically? I am hoping that I get a decent refund which will automatically go towards Uncle Sam and my debt, but it's a payment nonetheless.

Tax professionals will either charge an hourly rate or a flat fee for all their services. Their services include reviewing data entry and paperwork and prepare strategies and negotiations with the IRS. Ask your tax pro for the papers so that you can fill it yourself. This will minimize the overall fee.

Good advice--
but if you do go the tax pro route, make sure they're a licensed agent with the IRS. More protection for you...

I agree with KS. I would check any company out . You dont want to mess with Internal Revenue. Make sure whoever you deal with is the real deal. KYSIDE38
