I hope these collection agencies are reputed. Since they are directly under the IRS, their collection tactics has to be legal and transparent. If a consumer is not paying the account, it will come transparent just like the collection company not following the laws here.

I'm baffled by this, because I really thought that the IRS did its own collections. When did they start using agencies?

Another reason this is disturbing is because this is a case of yet more federal jobs being subcontracted to firms that pay less money and less or no benefits. Not a good development at all.
