I've read in a bunch of places that people that called got that answer from the IRS . . . . . I'm interested to see what they tell you Sue . . . .

I could not get through to the IRS...however....

I went to Turbotax.com, the service I used to file my taxes (as did millions of other Americans). There is a questions & answers area there, where you can ask questions of the "community" on Turbotax, and both community members and TurboTax employees will respond to your questions.

What I found is that your info is correct, Goudah.

TurboTax says that if you went through their online service to file your federal/state returns, and had your fees for using their service deducted from your refund, using their bank, Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, (even if you had your refund direct deposited) you will not receive a rebate payment via direct deposit - it will be sent via check according to the schedule posted on the IRS website.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm TICKED. The IRS has not posted this info ANYWHERE on their website that I've seen. Has anyone else seen it there? There's a heck of a big difference between having the money direct deposited by May 9 and having a paper check sent by June 20.

It is not on their website anywhere . . . . I'd be pissed too, because most people would think that they would be getting direct deposit in those cases . . . . .

Also, I've read that those that will get their direct deposit payments early are those that filed early, used 1040ez, and have no dependants. Something about the system being able to process them faster. So if you don't meet those requirements, odds are you will probably get the direct deposit on the original date.

Sue - Have you checked the "where is my stimulus" link today? If you are scheduled to get the payment dd this week your info should show now. They updated it this morning.

Default Stimulus

It appears that they have updated it since this morning. I have seen the question on here many times regarding "will I get a stimulus check if I owe back taxes?" and I can just tell you that mine was applied to my back taxes (probably a good thing). I just kind of wished they had just gone by the first schedule and then when people got theirs early it would have been a good surprise instead of getting people's hopes up. Most everyone I know is in the May 9 group and it is posted that they will get theirs May 9. Only one May 9th person is getting theirs May 6. Still have to wait and see. At least I know where mine is, still with the IRS.

Yeah, I wish they had never annouced some would go out early too . . . . Or at least been more specific about what sort of people would get them early.

I checked it this morning, and nada. Still said "sorry, no info is available". I'll try it again later this afternooon. But I doubt it, given that I'm part of the TurboTax crowd.

Yeah, I know some people that are up for it this week, and their info is now showing as scheduled for deposit on the 9th.

I checked again - nothing. Still "no info available". Since I used TurboTax and had my fees deducted from my refund, I am out of luck, I think. Guess I'll hammer Ebay with sales to see what I can do to alleviate the problem.

Yeah, I'm 78 so I have to wait until next week too.

Did you use a free program online? Or did you have to pay fees to use the software? Did you have those fees deducted from your refund?

So you must've either used a free version or paid any fees seperatly. It's only people that used an tax service or software and elected to pay the fees out of their refund that would get a paper check, even though their refund was direct deposited.

Just an FYI...I've put a note into our local newspaper and also contacted ABCnews.com about this. I would like to see the news outlets carrying some sort of story about this, because the IRS sure isn't being forthcoming with the info. This is something they should have foreseen when they started this whole stimulus thing - they covered people in the military, people that owe back taxes, people that don't make enough to file a return, people that live in Puerto Rico and other US territories, etc...but they couldn't cover THIS??? This will affect millions, and yet the IRS is not informing anyone unless they call to find out why they can't get their rebate info on the website. And I'll bet if they don't ask the right questions when they call, they aren't told, either.
