it has come to my attention of the current scam based on the irs rebate.some might get a phone call stating that they can get there rebateby direct deposit.another scam is calling to inform that the check was already mailed,but no record of it being cashed.these are both blatant scams.the irs won't call about this or refunds in general.if you get a phone call or email you think is suspicous.forward it to this sight.
phishing@irs.gov
report phone calls too,just note the# on your id box.

Anything the IRS sends you, they'll send by mail. When in doubt, check it out at www.irs.gov.
