Default CC Debt Turned Into the IRS. Past Statue of Limitations?

I had a military credit card turned into the IRS to garnish my tax refunds. Is has also been turned into a collection agency.

The original debt was around $3000, but due the 33% interest rate they are still charging, the debt is around $5000, even though they have taken my last 3 tax refunds.

Question: Since the date of the last missed payment is over Califronia's Statue of Limitations (4 years), can they no longer attempt to collect debt? Or does my tax refund payment count as activity on the account?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure that the military credit card has no SOL since it is federally backed.

They also claimed they wouldn't settle for anything less than the total amount nor stop the interest rate.

If they are subject to SOL then can they still attempt collections and report to the credit bureau’s?

As I said above, I dont believe there is any SOL,particularly in view of the tax offset. Federal debts can only do this.

If discharged from militay, can they seek to recoup money that they later find that you owe?

Oh yeah. Federal debt is federal debt, regardless of whether or not you are in the military.
