Just curious. For the first time my refund is delayed due to it being selected for a review. This has never happened to me and I'm curious to see if anyone else has ever had this happened.

When I called the IRS they tell me this is not an audit.

The funny thing is that my refund is being offset because of my student loans.

Any info or experience would greatly be appreciated.

IRS periodically reviews e-filed returns for Earned Income Tax Credit compliance. This year they are also reviewing for the correct computation of the Simulus Rebate from last year. If you claimed either of these on your 2008 return, it would explain the review.

When they hold your return for review, it means that they are going to download you to the police..... LOL Just kidding

I never had problem before but this year is being "funny" I e-filed on 1/15 was accepted 1/17. well I was waiting for my DD on 2/29. this did not showup so I called IRS on 1/29, they said to wait until monday and check in my account. well I did and was no DD so called again 2/1 and this time they said, was an internal error (IRS ERROR NOT MY ERROR) and I have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for my refund to DD.

I was told that my return has been selected for review. I asked them directly is this an audit. I was told they can't confirm nor deny. What does that mean? I never had this problem. I fact the IRS processed a penetly adustment of 30 bucks sent that out but holding up my 4,200 refund that I need like last week. So you are not alone.
