When you have fees deducted from your refund like that, here's what happens...
1: You complete your return, and give them your routing/account numbers. 2: They file your return with the IRS, using their routing/account numbers. 3: IRS deposits your refund in their bank account. 4: They deduct their fees, and deposit the remainder into your account. The IRS never sees your routing/account numbers. That's why you're getting a paper check. As to the letter, don't sweat it overly much. I never did get a letter. But my money showed up in my bank account exactly on schedule. Stimulating..... __________________

My girlfriend and her husband still haven't received their check, hers ended in 14, I think. She didn't have any of the things you mentioned unc, so I don't know what has happened. It was to be mailed on the 23rd of May, and still no check!..karen

Desperatelyseekingsanity, guess you and I are in the same house...the poor one until the check comes, if it ever does and if it is the amount it is supposed to be. Some people have received their check already and/or wrong and they have received the 2nd check correcting the amount that was suppose to be originally given while we wait.
Like I said extra $$$ I wasn't expecting so I should feel good when I get it, but only WHEN I get it not a second beforehand. You never know they may run out of money by then. |

I dunno how often it's updated. But the information becomes available when the payment is scheduled. That can be anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks before it's sent out. Sorry I can't be more help, Lady.

I wouldn't rely on that "where's my stimulus payment" thing on the IRS website. It's been notoriously unreliable for most people. Many people who are receiving paper checks rather than direct deposit are finding that the "where's my stimulus payment" link continues to show "sorry, no info available" right up until the day the check is mailed - or worse yet, it simply keeps showing no info available - even after the check has been received!

lmale, so yours will be here when? My last two are 83. I have received nothing, no letter (except that first one way back when they sent to everyone what they should receive), and the website shows nothing.
Just curious...seems like it is hit or miss with these checks...my daughter got less than the $600 and she is on her own working and is 23. |

The amount you get also depends on what your tax liability was. If you did not pay at least $600 in taxes last year, then you will only get what you paid. So if the total due to the IRS (including what was taken out of your check) was less then $600, you will get less then $600.
Example: Say I made $18,000 in 2007. Doing my taxes I only owed the IRS $389. I had $2,500 withheld from my paychecks. I got a refund of $2,111. But since my tax liability was only $389, I would only get $389 for my stimulus rebate. If you look at your tax returns, your tax liability is shown: On Form 1040, the amount shown on Line 57 plus the amount on Line 52; On Form 1040A, the amount shown on Line 35 plus the amount on Line 32; or On Form 1040EZ, the amount on Line 10. __________________
