I read that rollovers are illegal in Texas. What exactly is a rollover?

That is all to common here. I did that myself several times. When my loan was up for payment and I could not pay off the payday loan (storefront)they "rolled it over" into a new loan, new contract and longer to pay off, not a good ideal. Talk about digging a hole deeper. It is best to not roll over and, sometimes let the loan default, and make payments on the defaulted loan. To do this you will have to not let them "automaticly debit" your checking account with a "do not automaticly debit my checking account" letter mailed to the payday loan people certified with a return reciept. Someone will come along with more on this subject and others as well to help you. Also, I would click on the "free consultataion" button just to the right and up from this post. There they can point you in the right direction. Welcome to the site.

all the best,
Luke

Here is TX pdl law. Rollovers are not permitted. If you have store front pdl's, you should be paying the amount in full, then re-writing for a new loan. Not just paying a "fee" and extending the loan. Prohibited. If you have internet pdl's, they're "rolling over" without me even having to ask. Prohibited.

Please also check and see if your storefront PDLs are CSO (credit service organization) nothing in the store or in their advertisements will say this..it will be buried somewhere in the contract in teeny tiny little letters.

goldenblast, is it stated on the paperwork? So many people have questions regarding this. If it's as simple as looking at your paperwork (loan agreement), that would be wonderful!

If the place was acting as a CSO is would be on the contract. It would say Credit Service Organization somewhere on it.

Luke,
I'm still here, just not doing so good. I'm depressed and worried all the time. My life is so screwed up and I don't think I can fix it anymore, but it's my own fault and I'll just have to deal with it somehow.

Even if the places are CSO's all is not lost.
