Funny thing happened today, I got home and found a voice mail from this company saying I have a debt they are trying to collect for a Capital One card I had and they were offering a deal where I only had to pay 50% of the original debt. Ready for the funny part? I paid this debt off June 16th 2009 through Capital One Solutions with assistance from Alliance Financial with several phone calls and a solid confirmation number and received written confirmation from Alliance Financial and Capital One declaring the debt paid in full! Now I am trying to decide which lawyer to hire to sue Alliance One.

If a late credit card bill has been sent to Alliance One do I HAVE to pay Alliance One or can I pay the company that the bill is due to?? Am I indebted to Alliance One....does that make sense?? I would prefer to send the credit card company money rather than dealing with Alliance One.I am so lost and having to deal with them right now....

I have intentions of paying my credit card but am hoping to have some interviews this week and get a job soon!Lost my job earlier this year and have been tkaing care of my mom because she has been sick....they dont care though.LOL

Got a letter (well more like a postcard) from Alliance One, we've never dealt with a collection agency before. We have no overdue debts or bills. They say the client is "Your Court Clients". We've never heard of them, and haven't been to court, ever. Tried to call them and got a "voicemail box is full".

Is this some kind of phishing scheme? Should we respond?

Call the court and double check to see if there are any judgements filed against you without your knowledge. If so, ask them how to file a Motion to Vacate judgement due to Improper Venue or Service. If not, put a fraud alert on your credit report and file at least a Postal Fraud complaint at your post office.

Most of these collection agencies attempt to capitalize by attempting to collect on old debt which have either been written-off, forgiven or are beyond the statute of limitations for collection. Many are scammers who use fraudulent, deceptive, unfair, and oftentimes illegal tactics that are against the law. The best thing is to contact an attorney or law firm who practices consumer law if you can't work things out by negotiating directly with your creditors. You should also consider filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office in your state including with the state these collection agencies are operating out of. Keep records of everything they say and do. Many have been sued and end up paying you and your attorney fees. They don't like it when they are on the receiving end. I have never failed to pay my debts and I have the highest credit score you can have and even I've had these agencies contact me for phony debt that doesn't exist, never did, and wasn't owed. Best of luck.

I got a call from them about a credit card i was way past due with and i told the man that i couldn't afford but $50 every two weeks. He said and where did you get that magic number. Was truely rude with me i asked for the supervisors number and he started asking if this was really me!!! So i verified who i was and said would you like to know anymore of who i am no responce. So i said again give me your supervisors number he then sarcastically told it to me!!! I never got him, but about two weeks later when i quit answering the rude mans number another man calls me and says i'm having to go to court for it with no subpoena. I told him that i've been making the payments why are they doing this he said cause $50 is nothing and they are trying to move on and wash there hands of this matter with me. How unperfessional. I'm still making my payments. But just wanted everyone to know record everything from them it's so illegal i work at a company that deals with the same issues and i know for a fact that things they do are illegal!!!!

Anything I can help you with here? Who's calling you, and why? If you'll give me some info on your situation, I'll do what I can to help you.

So you'll know, we here in this community are not collectors. We don't call anyone unless they've requested it. I was unable to determine what collection agency has you so fired up. Help me, and I'll help you.

Are collection agencies (AllianceOnce) required by law to provide the information of the particular company and account for which they are collecting on behalf of. I have a situation where they've called and sent a notice indicating that I was responsible for a debt, however when I called they confirmed that I was not the individual but yet they had my correct SSN and name. The dob was incorrect. I asked the rep who the company was so that I could follow up to ensure that I trully do not owe them anything and to ensure that they correct their records if I was not the right individual. The AllianceOne rep indicated that the they would not give me any additional information and said that I would not be contacted any longer. I'd like to believe them, but that's what they said two weeks ago when they called. Any guideance would be greatly appreciated.

I've dealt with Alliance One twice in the last 7 years, thanks to my husbands retarded driving skills. We've always been the one to call them, set up payment plans. 1st time he owed 6k (before we met, thank you) in court fines. Paid it in 6 months, with NO issues. This second time, 2k, set up on $125 a month payments with a total interest charge of $65 or some silly amount.
If you own up and take responsibility for your actions or inactions they seem to treat people pretty well.
If you are getting things in the mail, or they are calling make sure that you have them mail you something. If they state that they have already mailed you something, make sure you "thank" them and tell them to do it again. Most collectors are pretty jerky about having to mail something for some reason.

Have a great day!

This company is just horrible. The ill-trained agents are rude and dishonest. Does the
amount of money they collect have anything to do with how much they are paid? I
think so. I promised to pay a large amount on the account when the money was available. What did they do? Took a huge amount of money from my checking acct.
Falsified a tape that said I authorized it. I suggest that you pay these thieves through the mail. They are thieves and will definately pay for their actions. There
are all kinds of jobs and regardless to how unpleasant they are, someone has to do
them. With that in mind, you should not oppress anyone and don't let your avarice
for money get in the way of how you treat people. With the state of the economy,I
unfortunately have had to deal with others in this same business. But never have I
encountered such blatant lawlessness and disregard for basic respect for another
human being. This is the poorest example of free enterprise that I have ever experienced.

how's about this.you demand details in writing first.then get any agreement in writing.you do not admit to anything or set up anything over the phone.make them document everything.if they won't then you send a DV letter certified mail return receipt.that sound good?that's how i deal with not only this bottomfeeder, but all others like them.

I have received a letter from Alliance One Receivables Management, Inc. They say that they are going to hand their 'Investigator' my 'file' in two days. I owed $826 for a driving ticket in Washington, and now suddenly they've tacked on an extra $407.61 in 'Post Assigned Interest'. I haven't had a job in 6 years, one year before I even got the ticket. Was mostly wandering if there is any way I can get rid of the interest. I mean, it's not like I took out a loan, and in addition this is the very first I've ever heard about any interest period. Also, they are now threatening me with charges for the investigation. What the hell, I have nothing and they want more and more! Help please!
PS - this is a really cool forum and I'm glad I found it.

I really did not like the first rep that i talked to at Alliance One Rec Management. She was very rude and argumentive. She said that my payment didnt go thru but then I checked and saw two pending charges on my bank account and so she said it was my fault that the CVV didnt match. She never once even said that it was her fault of pushing payment in twice and so now I have to dispute with my bank. She acted as if I owed her the money and just kept talking back. I dont know how these people are trained to talk to people but they must have no one to teach them manners and will live the rest of their lives alone if they dont change their attitudes. Working for a company is one thing but being very rude and unprofessional is another.

These jerks continue to take money even after the account is satisfied. My account was paid in full at the end of November, yet they still managed to intercept almost $700 from my tax return 3 months later. Their response? I get to wait another 90 Days for them to fix what they screwed up and send my money back!

Allianceone is bad for harrassing the customers but, not for collecting purposes. The little girl I spoke with had major attitude from the get go and ask questions about things going on in my life that she should not have been asking. I think the CEO needs to retrain or get rid of this one. I don't think her raising her voice to me and making threats on the phone are a part of the company policy. So Sad this is part of America's " Customer Service ". The really bad thing is it's morning and she will treat customers this way all day with that attitude. My next thing is why do we have to take their abuse, then they can refuse us the opportunity of speaking with another operator. Why should we have to put up with their threats and denials of speaking with someone who might be in a better mood.

How Rude are these workers! I mean do they really think this is true customer service. What about the CEO, is he rude or does he think this is way to treat the Customer. Without us you would not have a Job Sir nor would your very rude and untrained staff. Are they collecting or is the goal for the day tick everyone in the world off? When I tried to call and come up with a plan I was kicked over and over by the Shark on the phone and told she would not help me, but she would put all kinds of things into the computer she sits in front of ( Negative I'm sure ). That's what people like her do when you request someone else to help you. She enjoy's the drama of beating someone up over the phone. I wonder if she is a Christian???? Is that What Jesus would do to someone who asked for help?????
