October 24th, 2005

CB/HV
155 North Plank Road
PO Box 831
Newburgh, NY 12551

Dear CB/HV,

I regret having to write to you about an unpleasant experience I've had with your company. I prefer to contact a company only in praise of an employee or the company's actions. Unfortunately, my situation is such that it is necessary for me to forward a complaint to you.

On October 17th I contacted your company in regards to a letter I received about case number (0527622722). This bill is from a company that has been out of business since 2003 and did not apply billing to my insurance properly for resolution of funds. I have had to resolve this issue with previous debt collectors. This unfortunately keeps getting purchased from new companies like your self while the previous company has not closed it out as requested by myself. I spoke to a very rude and combative lady who all but called me a liar when trying to explain and retrieve information from her. She did not give me her name for my documentation. I'm sure you'll find it in your system.

I then waited a week and called back on October 24, and spoke to Mr. Jeff Burt who explained the account had been closed out after my initial call. For my records I requested a letter from your agency to validate the information I was verbally being given. To which Mr. Burt replied your company does not do that to just disregard the letter.

Well, having disregarded this before because I assumed it was handled. Certainly does not help when it resurfaces years down the road with a new collector. If your company can send a letter requesting payment on behalf of your client, then your company can certainly send a letter admitting error.

So I am requesting in writing that a letter be mailed on your company's behalf stating that this account has been closed and the reason's found for closing it. More importantly that it will not reflect on my credit report as stated by Mr. Jeff Burt on October 24th, 2005.

I look forward to hearing from you. I hope you can respond within 30 days, so that we are able to resolve this problem in a speedy fashion.

Sincerely,

Michael Roth

I am writing this in regards to a very unpleasant phone call with your company. Today, I received a collection notice from your company. When I called, I was transferred to Mr. Bill Jordan. Once Mr. Jordan answered I asked him to simply explain the collection notice to me. Not once did he offer me an explanation even though I was disputing the notice. With a very pissy attitude he asked if I was paying it or not. When I said no, he didn't allow me to explain my situation. He abruptly said "Ok, I'll tell them you're not going to pay and keep this in collections." CLICK!!!! Are your serious??? Did he really just hang up on me?? He did. Let me just say Mr. Bill Jordan, you don't deserve to have your job. If there was anything I could do, you would be fired! From reading the other posts, it doesn't take a genius to figure out what kind of company this really is. Classless!

I received a collection notice in my name that should have been in my wife's name. When the belligerent rep I spoke to said she didn't like my tone and was hanging up on my I asked to speck to her supervisor.

I thought maybe I could talk sense to him. I was wrong. When i explained that this was not MY bill and that I will take the proper steps to see the bill was put in my wife's name he told me, "If you know what's good for you you will just pay the bill." And, "I hope when you do get it settled you call me back and rub it in my face because it isn't going to happen". Then he hung up on me.

I have filed a complaint with the NY Consumer Protection Agency under your license number 0905924 and am also filing a complaint with Orange County and the city of Newburgh.

This company has the most rude and unprofessional employees and management I have ever had to talk to.

Case #091040357.

I want to say that I'd only like to deal with Abby Davis at Hudson Valley Collections. She couldn't be a nicer person.

I had THEE lousiest conversation with a very snarky agent when I called this morning putting me in a worse mood when all I asked is if I can rearrange a payment date. I tried to rearrange my payment since I'm living paycheck to paycheck. I've had some financial hardship, but am making good on my debts. Unfortunately, not PAYING THEM IN FULL at this EXACT MOMENT, but doing the best I can as MOST TAX PAYING AMERICANS ARE DOING. I asked for Abby Davis and got Miss Snarky No It All Accusatory. She was being nice, then said, "Since you can't pay the remaining balance, this will go on your Credit Report as "Paid". I was never told this upfront. Then she said, "You need to return the equipment back to my client because you're costing them money. They are not going to wait until December to get their equipment and reconnect it." I was told so many conflicting things about this idiotic equipment. I would have gladly returned it MONTHS AGO, but I was told someone from CableVision would pick it up, then told not to worry from CableVision and Hudson Valley that they'd reconnect it ONCE IT'S PAID IN FULL - NO WORRIES. Then some random CableVision tech called about a month ago yelling at me to pick up the equipment that CableVision was wrong. They I said not to because they said not to. What the Fuck is wrong with this idiotic picture? I'll tell you what...the frame around when Miss Snarky Know It All replied when I said, "I guess the credit reporting is OK with what's happening, people in financial hardship, it's a sign of the times and might work for me." She said, "I don't know what you're talking about, I don't see people in financial hardship." I said, "Really, you don't see people losing jobs and unable to pay their bills?" and she said, "I see people losing jobs and still paying their bills." Then she said again, "You need to return my client's equipment. They're not going to wait for you to pay off your bill a little bit at a time. Once you reinstall your cable, they'll give you new equipment. You're costing my client money by keeping it." I said, "I was TOLD to keep it by your client and also told this would not go on my record so you're making it sound like I'm keeping their stuff hostage which I'm not. I'll gladly return it." She said, sweetly, "That's not how I meant it and sorry you took it that way." I said, "thanks for your help" and hung up on the asshole.

I'm working to pay off my debt. I'm paying it on time. I don't appreciate insult to injury, being told to do something then not, then I'm accused of not doing something when I was told not TO! Then having announced that I'll have this go on my credit then told and made to feel bad that I'm a debtor and not paying my bills. I'm also trying to save my house from foreclosure and in the interim, still upholding my end of the bargain with Hudson Valley. In turn, this will go on my credit record even after rectifying it. Also, your girl Friday is clueless. People are losing their homes and not able to even have a TV because they're homeless, but in her fucked up world, people are jobless and paying bills. Tell her to keep her retarded comments to herself. I don't need cunty remarks when all I'm trying and fighting to do is stay afloat...correction stay afloat along with most Americans at this juncture. Contrary to popular belief, we're in a recession.

The automated caller left a message on my in-laws home phone of which I have never used. The numbe left was 888-913-7405 that doesn't work just disconnected the call.

I have no idea why or how you would have gotten thier number and I have left a message on the phone number listed on this page. I expect a call tomorrow to resolve this issue

I did speak to Abby Davis as another poster suggested. Unfortunately (I thought) she was not my agent. I was connected to Heather Russo. She was very friendly, professional and a pleasure to speak to. I think we have to remember when dealing with collection bureaus that none of us want to be in debt. Also it is not easy for the agents getting hung up on all the time and often lied to. I believe generally that if I am being courteous I expect that in return. I certainly got that with Heather Russo. I paid my bill on the phone and was told by Mrs. Russo that the Credit bureaus will have the information in 2-3 days. I will follow up with the credit bureaus. My point is my experience with Heather Russo and briefly with Abby Davis was painless, even pleasant.

Here is what I did......I canceled my verizon home phone account and we only have our cell phones now. You can register your cell phones online for the "no call" for solicitors and bill collectors. My house is quiet again...no answering machine full of these jerks!

This agency continued to collect money from me since 2006 when my bank sold it in 2006. For 4 years they never send a letter to me to stop payments, They since send me some of my money back and I am still waiting for the second check. I am in the process of filing a complaint to FTC/US Attorney/BBB. I want to file a punative damage suit as well to include interest.

Any other thoughts or suggestions. email at

If you will not tell me who you are "collecting" for; then I will certainly not talk to your very, very rude self. Please understand that people go through divorces and debt is seperated in divorce so you may need to check yourself before calling someone a liar and "disgrace to society". I pray that you have financial problems soon

First, we're not calling you. Try your Google search again and pay closer attention to the results. This is a public forum of people who are trying to get out of debt.

Second, even if we were who called you, how exactly would you expect us to know who you are by the information you just gave?

Third, divorce decrees do not overrule your original contract. You are still bound by the original agreement. If your ex was supposed to pay something that has both of your names on it and he doesn't, you're still liable. You would have to pay it and then take him to court to recover your money.
