Information for all of you dealing with these low life criminals................

Check Administration Services, also known as Dept. of Check Administration.(to sound scary on the phone)
I got their address from the New York Secretary of State office. It is 167 Ashland Avenue, Buffalo, New York, 14222. This is a residential neighborhood. Not sure if they operate out of their basement, or if this is just a fake(front) address. GoogleMap it and you will see. The phone number they use is 1-888-412-1850. They have only been around since March. They are a standard debt collection agency, and CANNOT ARREST YOU!

Here is a list of some of their illegal tactics:

Call your family to imply that you are a criminal, and that you are going to go to jail if you don't pay up. Tell you that you are being charged with some sort of bad check crime. Impersonate a lawyer and threaten a lawsuit. Impersonate a government official and threaten that you are going to prison. Call you early in the morning against fdcpa rules. Harass you verbally on the phone. Trick your caller ID into saying the call is being received from a courthouse or sheriff office. Individual employees use fake names.
Threaten that charges are "being filed" when in truth they intend not to take the action they are threatening, whether they can or can't anyway. Call you even though they are aware you have filed for bankruptcy. Flat out lie about your case. If they have done anything like what i just listed, they are breaking laws and FDCPA rules.

Here is what you can do to report them or sue them.

(1st and foremost try to obtain any evidence you can. Phone messages, written statements from family they have called, letters they have sent you, even recorded phone conversations with them.)

The most important person to contact is Karen at the New York Attorney General's office. She is the SR. in charge of consumer fraud. Her phone number is (716) 853-8400. She is very knowledgeable and friendly, and already aware of this company.
Next you should file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Their phone number is (877)382-4357. Reference this case number, 19331109.
Next if your caller ID is showing anything other than unknown, private, New York, or Check Administration Service, than you should contact the FCC about this. Contact them at their website fcc.gov and file a complaint.

And finally, here is the attorney you should contact about filing a lawsuit. She is aware of this company and the illegal tactics they use, and ideally is located in Buffalo along with this company. Her name is Andrea Schillaci, and her phone number is (716)849-8900. It should only cost you about $200 to get your lawsuit rolling. If you guys need any more info, just post your questions and I will reply. GOOD LUCK!

They probably aren't calling you because they have been harassing me the past few weeks! My mother-in-law called me and told me some guy is trying to get hold of me from an attorney's office but he wouldnt give her his info - just said he is suing me. He called back again and she got his name and # and it is a collection agency called Goldstein, Bruckmeyer and Marsh in New York - a few miles from Check Admin svcs used to be. I told them I paid CAS back in January '09 and I could give them proof but I had to get copies of my bank statements from back then. A few days later a guy called me saying he was a process server and he needed to serve me papers - I asked him what address he had and he said "I have a lot of addresses" which means he doesnt have shit- he also told me to call them so I could make arrangements. If they already filed papers then they would not want me to make arrangements with them. After researching them I found out that Check Admin Svcs went out of business a few months before this Goldstein company got incorporated..hmmm...that's kind of a coincidence!! After I talked to this "Melissa Goldstein" I started thinking about the nasty woman I talked to back in Dec of 09 making threats if I didnt pay the whole balance and I had 2 charges against me for the same thing as the other posts - the voice sounded a lot like that woman!! These people are low-life scumbag individuals that do not have a conscience - I don't know how they can sleep at night!!

I am dealing with the same issues. I had a pdl that I paid off in January, 2009 and now I am receiving phone calls from Goldstein, Bruckmeyer, & Marsh saying that I still owe this money. They are telling me that they won't accept my bank statement as proof that I paid this debt off. Any advice as to my next course of action?

It is really irritating to know that Goldstein, Bruckmeyer, & Marsh won't accept the bank statements as a proof of the fact that you paid off the debt. You should ask them to let you know what documents they will accept as proof. Your next course of action, in my opinion, is to contact an attorney and take his or her opinion.

Chris Johnson called me today (with an unknown number) and left a mssg saying that since I never responded to any messages or correspondence that they are going to serve me with papers at my home or place of employment if I don't call them back..that's strange..I thought they were going to do that 3 months ago?? I again told him that it is paid off - I have proof- and that I never received any "correspondence" from him..he is still claiming he sent it - I told him to fax it or email it and offered my #'s or to mail it certified so I would have to sign for it (which is what a really attorney's office would do) and he said no and hung up!! I would suggest that you make a complaint with the New York Attorney General's office, your state's attorney general's office and the better business bureau which I am doing also. I also did some investigating on the fax# they gave me when I told them I could send them the proof and it is the same fax# that Check Administration services had which is the company I originally paid my loan off with in 2009 - hmmm...something smells a little fishy!!!

I was contacted at 7:15 AM on a Saturday and they left me a message on my Cell phone. They also called my parents and harassed them at the same time. Giving a fake Case # and saying if I didn't return their call by Monday they would submit this to an attorney. Obviously there is no CASE# because I've never been served or I would have filed a answer to respond to the court. So I did my research seeing as how I actually work at a Law Firm in Legal Collections. The practices this junk of a collection agency uses is illegal and immoral. Just like somebody else posted I had my identity stolen and was forced to change bank accounts, moved, and just forgot about this. Never received any Verification of Debt or documentation from anyone. My number has always been the same so the payday loan company could have called me. I contacted them and recorded the conversation all they did was talk over me and try to belittle me as I asked to speak to a manager in regards to their violation at contacting me before 8am. They claimed to work in "arbitration" and were about as unprofessional as it gets. Saying I will get what's coming, I take out payday loans, and so on. I informed the last person after they hung up twice that I had them all on recording on top of the message left and he said good luck see you soon in court. Over a 150$ pay day loan at that. Needless to say I can tell all of these individuals are High School drop outs with Felony charges just by the conversation I had over the telephone with them. I will never pay a company who performs business like this. I will be filing a suit for violations of the FDCPA against ICS and any of their entities in the next week.

Actually thats not true. We wont accept solely a bank statement as proof is paid because we have no way of verifying the deduction you show on your bank statment is an accurate depiction of what is paid or owed or to whom. The company showing having been paid could be absolutely anybody. So we request a letter saying it was paid from the company you paid it to...or your bank statment with some cooberating items that together would indicate you paid either the creditor or a collection agency. It really isnt a unreasonable request if u think about it.
