Ok....Going through my Experian currently..
I have TWO entries from midland credit management...Both for the same account/number.
One of them says, "Unable to locate individual 1/11/06-1/11/06", They have not tried to contact me! Not by telephone, or mail.
The second one is also from 6/05
I made a payment last summer, and it is not reflected.
Has anyone had to deal with midland credit mgmt people? What does this mean? Should one of these be removed??? Also each account of Midland Credit Management Inc has a different office address...I've been dealing with a guy in Missouri??

I had them on my credit report AFTER I sent them a debt validation letter. I sent it within days of the dunning letter from them. I have not heard a peep out of them. I disputed the entry on my credit report and it came back verified. did it again, same thing. So I tried once more and was about to send a intent to sue but this time they did not verify it and it was deleted.

If you send a dv letter to them during the 30 day window, wait it out. After 4 months or so if you do not hear anything and they are on your credit report, dispute it. Most likely they don't have your information anymore and will not be able to verify it. Then if anyone ever comes after you for that debt. you have proof that if can't be validated, therefore it's not yours.

Angelina, this is not midland credit management, This is a help forum that deals with debt consolidation, abuse from debt collectors and other advice.

If you found this company on your credit report you should call the phone number that is provided on there. If no phone number is provided you can do one of 2 things. Send a debt validation letter to the address they have on your credit report or dispute the entry on your credit report, or both, sending the debt validation letter first is recommended.

Did you ever receive anything by mail from this company? If not use this letter and format it to your needs. DO NOT sign the letter, you can just put your initials or type your name in when you print it up.

Good Morning. I am really stressing over a letter that I keep getting from midland credit management Inc. (P.O. Box 60578, Los Angeles, CA 90060-0578) (phone 1-800-282-2644) They have sent me a letter over and over again saying that I owe them $2551.36 for the Ford Credit US. But if I paid $637.84 now, the debt would be paid in full. I have never even owed a Ford, nor have I ever bought for a Ford dealer before. So I have them repeatedly about this. I gave them the account number that is on the letter. They ask me for my name. I said yes. Then they ask me if my SS ends in &^%$%. I say no. They verify my address and tell me they have the wrong address. They are EXTREMELY rude. Today is the third time I've had to call. I received another letter in the mail - same thing. I called and asked to speak to a supervisor. She said no because she had already taken my address off. I told her that that is what I had been told over and over again. But it was not taken care of. She hung up. I called back and was put on hold for a VERY long time. I hung up and called again. A man answered this time. I asked to speak to a supervisor. He asked me my information again. When I told him, he rudely said, "It says in the notes that your address was taken off so you can't speak to a supervisor. Quit calling and stressing over it." And he hung up.
So where am I at with this? What can I do? Is this some type of scam?

it might be that what you just received was mailed very shortly before they finally fixed your information, so it just crossed in the mail. We get that sometimes when we do something for a client, and the processing isn't completed before the next bill or document is changed, so they receive incorrect information in the mail before the NEW, correct document is mailed. Check your credit report, see what is shown, and then I would also call again, and ask to have something sent to you by Midland showing that you are not associated with acct# whatever.

folks, the reality is, the three credit bureaus EXIST to provide their members with credit information about potential customers - they do not have to do any favors for consumers, and there are no laws regarding THEM whatsoever - only those who report. I've tried having double, triple and even quadruple entries deleted by dealing directly with them and they simply will not do this. I've also sent them COURT DOCUMENTS showing an account dismissed and judgments paid in full, and still, THEY WILL NOT remove these items, simply marking them as disputed. The only way to effectively have these things removed is to go through your state attorney general's office and file a complaint. Midland Credit Management seems to respond well under threat from the state's attorney's offices, but no one else. And forget believing anyone at Midland will honor any request you make to them for account information. If ONE Person reading this has requested account information from Midland and actually gotten it, please let me know, but I don't think this ever happens, even under court order.

I have had Midland do the same duplication with me. Dispute this in writing not by the internet. Send the letter conformed mail delivery. Also report this to the FTC-Federal Trade commission. You have a right to sue Midland for providing violating the FCRA - Federal Credit reporting Act. It does not matter if this is an accident - although be,ieve me it is not. They purpose duplicate information and "create" balances due to cause a negative credit score. Even if you owe a debt, you have the right to sue. FTC told me each violation is $1000. Check the web for lawsuits against them.

I keep getting notices from Midland on a debt that is 25+ years old. Is that legal?
They list Citibank but I never had a card with them and in calling with the account number Midland supplied, they have no record of that account EVER existing.
I declared banlrupcy back 18 years ago and all debts were discharged.
How do I get these people off my back?

Right now this POS company has been as PITA calling repeatedly and even abusing me verbally on the phone because I would not allow them to get my hubbie's SS# out of me to verify a credit card debt. NOw understand my hubbie does NOT condone credit cards... he won't open one and refuses to USE THEM! I'm pretty sure they have the wrong person. I am also pretty sure they couldn't give a damn about that fact either.
So, far by searching online I found the following links that have been useful... I hope it can also help others.

I see a negative item on my report from midland, it was from a credit card about 9 years ago. On my report it says the date opened is 2007. Collection was back in 1999. Is there any statue of limitations or should I just try to settle with them?

Sirah,

Send them a Cease & Desist letter (Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested). If they contact you after they receive it, file a complaint with the FTC & your state Attorney General.

David,

It looks like they may have illegally re-aged the debt which may give you a chance to sue them.

SOLs vary from state to state, what state are you in?

IF it is past SOL, file a Dispute with the credit reporting agency(ies) on whose report(s) this fraudulent debt shows up on.

Would I dispute it through Midland or the credit agency?
Thank you

I would dispute it with the credit agency. If you have any back-up documentation, that would be so much better. A copy of an older credit report which shows the default date would be ideal, along with any documentation that you may have from 1999 (collection letter, etc). I realize that is asking a lot, I'm just saying that the more documentation you have in your defense, the better. The credit agencies are required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act to conduct a proper investigation, whereas the FDCPA requirements for validation are weak and really only valid for the 30 day period covered by the dunning letter (which is the letter you get in the mail when a debt has gone to a new collection agency, that tells you how to dispute).

I called Midland and they told me that the account was opened in 1999 and went into collection in 2003 and no payment has been made since 2003. I asked about the five years SOL and they said that federal SOL is seven years. Thank you again for the advise. Another negative thing I see on my report is a medical bill from 2005 but it does not list any creditor name or original creditor, do you think this one could be an easy dispute since no creditor is listed for verification?

Thanks again

They are deceiving you a bit. State SOLs trump Federal, anyway. The 7 year SOL is for reporting on your Credit Report.

I posted a link to the actual law code.

As far as the other debt, its worth a try for sure. Dispute that with the CRA(s) on whose credit report(s) it shows. Dispute plicies for the CRAs will be on their respective websites.

If you have proof from the court that your balance was paid you should send that to all 3 credit agencys. If they dont adjust your report then you should sue them.
