I was approached by security at my job yesterday, was asked if I was in any sort of trouble in my personal life,if anybody was stalking me or threatening me.

Somebody has been calling me at my job, asking for me under my maiden name.. the caller id shows up as some sort of sex line, security says that when he called the number that it was indeed a sex line.

I'm thinking this is a payday loan company, I closed my bank accounts a few years ago because I'd repaid thousands of dollars in interest with no end in site.

I have no idea what to do, what to tell security, I tried to explain a bit about the payday loan stuff but he looked at me like yeah right, sure lady. People at work are freaking out over this.

has anybody else had this problem? I'm in MA

I have never been employed by or used a sex line. This place is calling my job.Security informed me that they called the number showing up on caller id and it is indeed a sex line.

These people call in late afternoon, after I've left for the day so I haven't been able to speak to anyone directly myself.

This has got to be payday loan related, those are the only people who had my work number.

chances are they are spoofing the callier id.that means they mask there true number with a different one or the old unknown name unknown number.it is a common trick with pdl's especially illegal ones.ask the security to get a number from them.a real number.

My company is very PC, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to just allow whichever employee answers the phone to give the caller my cell phone number? That way I can find out which company this is,then go from there?

When I had my original problems, I had to go to my manager and confide in him what was going on, he was quite supportive particularly when some company called him and informed him that US marshalls were coming to arrest me..on a $250 loan that they'd been paid $750 in interest on.

can you recall any details of this pdl.how much borrowed?how much paid back?i would try to get the number from them first.
if you are cool with them having your cell go ahead.just make sure you aren't charged for incoming calls, cause they will call that number.

You know what? This is off the wall, but has anyone thought to call the sex line to tell them that these scumbags are using their number like this? Just a thought...also, maybe the sex line is a sideline for the PDL business? I wouldn't be surprised,frankly--and it would be interesting to find out.

It has to be a pdl, nobody else would call me at that number, I don't give out my work number to anybody.

pdl's know they're calling a work number..having a sexline number come up on caller id at your job ? what better way to scare somebody into being forced to deal with them

i know it's a PC company, but you might want to explain this one thing just this once.also get a real number.somehow,someway.an illegal pdl might want to embarass you first.that might be why they are spoofing the caller id as well.just don't try the number again.

i saw linds say ACHLOAN.op does that name sound familiar?they do have a habit of spoofing and using #'s like the op stated.the op also stated they paid 750.00 on a 250.00 loan.
sounds like it is illegal either way.i would try to see if you could answer at work.try to gleen as much info from these people if possible.then we can help you put a stop to this nonsense.

""I had the same thing happen to me... the number on the caller id was 888-777-6666... it is a sex line! Crazy!!! ""

What company was really calling you?

Btw,security didn't tell me the number, just that they had called my job several times, repeatedly asking for me,he called the number listed on the caller id and confirmed that it was indeed a sex line. He approached me privately, appeared concerned and worried for my safety.

I need this at work like I need hepatitis and need to quickly come up with some sort of formal plan so that security can advise my co-workers as to how to proceed. I'm not there when these calls come in and therefore can't just answer the phone myself.

i would advise you as before, have your co-workers tell these people you no longer work there.it does sound like an illegal overseas pdl.the spoofing of caller id,only calling at work.i just noticed the point about marshalls coming for you.i wouldn't talk to them anyway.if your coworkers tell them you no longer work there the calls should stop soon.

My boss says that since I married it's perfectly acceptable to say that "nobody by that name works here" unfortunately there are folks on other shifts who forget, there are also a couple who got real tight lipped and angry looking when I asked that they handle
any calls that come in this way.

I'm really worried because I worked over the weekend, there were no notes left for me that anybody had called, nothing was said to me... then the head of security approaching me yesterday.

I'm thinking at this point that a memo should simply go out that I'm being harrassed and that the message "nobody by that name works here" should be given. Normal people don't understand pdl stuff.

Just got a call from work, these people have called 16 times since 3:30pm they are rude, threatening, accusing co-workers of being me ,demanding that I be dragged to the phone if need be. they won't say who they are, what company they're calling from.
sexline info shows on caller id.

my co-worker was just screaming at me oh god, I'm going to lose my job over this
