I have four payday loans that I can't repay. I have lost my job and busy searching for a new job. What is my option? Can I go to jail if I don't repay them?

First of all, let us know which state you are from. Many states do not allow payday lending business, and many of them allow it. Make sure to know whether payday lending is legal in your state or not.
Also, payday lenders cannot make you arrested for defaulting on a payday loan. However, if you are sued or a court judgment has been entered against you and you do not appear in court, a judge might issue a warrant against you. So, you should never miss a court order.

Hey Tom, you do not need to worry about going to jail over your payday loans, just make sure to show up at court if one of your lenders decides to sue you. The worst that'll happen is your credit score will get hurt and you might find it difficult to get loans in the future. As for now your best option is to negotiate with the lenders and see if they agree to take back a percentage of what you owe as you can't pay your loans back in full. If you have absolutely run out of all options then you can attend a free counseling session at debtcc (call 800-DEBT-913) and you can also look into other debt relief solutions like debt consolidation where you combine all your payday loans into a single low-interest loan which will definitely be so much easier for you to pay off in time.

You didn't mention the state name you live in. There are few states where Payday lending is not legal. You will not face legal consequences if you belong to one of those states. However, you should repay the loans asap. You can request an extended payment plan EPP from your lender.
