Hello, I have about 6 payday loans (online and locally) that are almost all in default. Some are threatening garnishment and others are harrassing me at work and home. I don't know where to start to dig myself out of this hole I have dug for myself.
I am worried everymonth if I will be able to pay rent and basic expenses. I need help and quick!

Hello and Welcome to the forums. What state are you in? What are the online companies? Give us a little info and see if any one can help. KYSIDE38

The storefronts can garnish you after they sue you and obtain a court order.

The internet guys may have tricked you into signing a wage assignment. You can send a letter revoking authorization.

Do they have to offer repayment options? No, but if they are not operating within the laws of your state and/or their state of incorporation, they will often settle with you.

Well California has issued an enjunction against them to stop lending. Colorado may jump on the band wagon. You can fight them. If you have paid the principal and the legal ammount of interest allowed per CO law, you have latitude to settle with all of your internet loans. Sonic just takes some extra effort.

You are now chatting with 'Shawnda'

Shawnda: Thank you for visiting Customer Care. How may I help you?

Stephanie Fields: Hi I have a couple of questions for you?

Shawnda: May I have your first and last name along with your social security number please?

Stephanie Fields: What state is your company located in?

Shawnda: Do you mean the head office or the customer care center?

Stephanie Fields: Your coporate office?

Stephanie Fields: corporate that is

Shawnda: Our customer care center is in Winnipeg
Manitoba but our head office is in Malta.

Stephanie Fields: Okay, can a US citizen borrow from you all?

Shawnda: Yes, we loan exclusively to US citizens.

Stephanie Fields: Okay so how do reloan with you all and if I do is your company have license in Pennsylvania?

Shawnda: I need to see your file in order to proceed. May I please have your social security number?

Stephanie Fields: I am not sure I trust a chat room is there a secure website I can go to or can I call or write to reloan, what is your address is reloan

Shawnda: Our chats are conducted over a secure server, so it is perfectly safe to give personal information.

Stephanie Fields: Well you know what you hear about chat rooms on the news and stuff, so I would rather find a secure website or fax/mail it to you all if that is okay

Stephanie Fields: I am not sure how to go around your website

Shawnda: The website is secured as well as both new loans and reloans can only be completed online. We cannot accept reloan requests by mail or fax.

Stephanie Fields: to get money again this is like the second time I have done this so I don't know

Shawnda: I can walk you through a reloan request but I need to review your file first.

Stephanie Fields: I have been hearing about how the military made it illegal for check cashers to lend money is that true? If so how can I get around this I need to get a root canal done REAL SOON

Shawnda: I don't know if that is true because we are not a check-cashing company.

Stephanie Fields: Its not the same thing?

Shawnda: No, it isn't. What we do is very different.

Stephanie Fields: When I took out my loan last year I wasn't in the Army but I am now and it makes me nervouse because I don't want my commanding officer to find out

Shawnda: I need to see your file in order to assist you further.

Stephanie Fields: Here is my confirmation # with you all from last year PayOne Advance #453647598

Shawnda: Is PayOne Advance the company you loan with?
Stephanie Fields: yeah thats you guys right?

Shawnda: Actually, it isn't. What website did you get this chat link from?

Stephanie Fields: oops mybad, i am sorry I bothered you

You are now chatting with 'Arlene'
Arlene: Thank you for visiting Customer Care. How may I help you?
Evelyn Campbell: Hi Arlene
Evelyn Campbell: My name is Evelyn
Evelyn Campbell: Iwas considering applying for a loan with your company
Arlene: May I have your first and last name along with your social security number please?
Evelyn Campbell: I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me
Evelyn Campbell: My name is Evelyn Campbell
Arlene: May I have your social security number please?
Evelyn Campbell: I do not feel comfortable giving you my soical security number as I have not applied for the loan yet, and according to the law I am not obligated to until I do so, but what I was wondering is where are you located?
Evelyn Campbell: I clicked on the contact us link
Evelyn Campbell: but there isn't an address, and I wanted to check the better business bureau
Arlene: The head office is located in Level 8 Suite 3, Plaza Commercial Centre, Bisazza Street, Sliema, SLM15, Malta.
Arlene: Would you like to complete an online application now?
Evelyn Campbell: Where is that?
Arlene: We can complete an online application here on chat.
Evelyn Campbell: I have a few more questions first, if you don't mind
Evelyn Campbell: where is malta?
Arlene: It's in Europe.
Evelyn Campbell: really, how cool, i have never heard of it
Evelyn Campbell: where in europe?
Evelyn Campbell: are you a member of the better business bureau?
Arlene: Yes we are.
Evelyn Campbell: cool, but i am not sure where on the bbb website to look at european companies
Evelyn Campbell: could you direct me to the link?
Arlene: Unfortunately, I do not have a link for that.
Evelyn Campbell: ok well i will look for it later, but my next question is what is the apr?
Arlene: I don't have any idea about apr.
Arlene: What do you mean by apr?
Evelyn Campbell: APR = annual percentage rate
Evelyn Campbell: the rate of interest on the loan
Arlene: Cashtransfercenters.com charges $27 per $100 borrowed for a maximum loaning period of 14 days.
Evelyn Campbell: are you sure?
Arlene: Yes.
Evelyn Campbell: i think that sort of interest rate isn't legal here
Evelyn Campbell: i'd have to check to be sure, but i don't think you can go over 25%
Arlene: That's our fee for every $100 borrowed Ms. Campbell.
Evelyn Campbell: you never did say where in europe malta is
Evelyn Campbell: do you have any locations here in the united states?
Arlene: No, we don't have an office in the United States. Malta is in southern Italy.
Evelyn Campbell: wow i have always wanted to visit italy,
Evelyn Campbell: so you aren't incorporated anywhere in the us
Arlene: No, we're not.
Evelyn Campbell: where else are you besides italy?
Evelyn Campbell: does italy have a better business bureau of their own?
Arlene: That's our only location.
Evelyn Campbell: i always thought foreign companies had to be incorporated in the united states in order to do business here? Is your company required to have any sort of special license or permits?
Arlene: Yes. We are a member of the better business bureau, the reason why we can do business outside Malta.
Arlene: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Evelyn Campbell: and you know i just looked up that interest rate, and the most I can be charged is 25%. anymore than that is a felony and your company could be fined 10k, so are you sure about that interest rate?
Arlene: I am sure about that. There is $27 per $100 borrowed.
Evelyn Campbell: the better business bureau is the reason you can loan in the united states? that is just an organization for consumer's to report to if they have problems, and the bbb investigates the problems to resolve them.
Evelyn Campbell: i have it right here...25% is the max...don't you accommodate your fees for every customer's residential laws?
Evelyn Campbell: i can give you the link if you would like
Arlene: Unfortunately, without a social security number I cannot answer your question any further.
Arlene: May I have your social security number please?
Evelyn Campbell: no, by law i do not have to give it to you. Jennifer Granholm passed that law a couple of years ago, and by law you cannot deny me service either.
Arlene: Unfortunately, since you do not want to provide us with your social security number, I will have to terminate this chat.
Arlene: Thank you for chatting with us. We look forward to assisting you in the near future.

I have payday loans outstanding with the following companies,
United Loan -450.00, ameriloan -450.00, Impact Cash Loan -400.00, Americash Loan -352.00, PLS -331.00, All credit Lenders -600.00, CMS Marketing -400.00 and some cash car title place I forgot their name -350.00. So you see I'm in serious debt. I've had bad luck with my car and had to pay an attorney for a court case. None of the lenders will work with me and all are threatening garnishment of my payroll check which only averages $500 per week. Can all of them garnish my check at the same time, leaving me with nothing? I don't know what to do because I have to get to work and pay for childcare for my daughter. Please help.
