Sour Economy and CA...

with the exception of a couple of members here.i sure hope so.maybe if they have some truly tough times.they might be a little more willing to see other peoples point of view.

Losing your job and unable to pay your basic bills is something I DO NOT wish upon anyone. It is a horrible feeling.

The govt. will 'probly bail 'em out. LOL!

well i am sorry if i offended any member,but my thought still stands.a lot of bottomfeeders make a nice pile while the mnoey does not go toward anything but there pocketbooks.the entire JDB inustry should collapse.

I have seen some good debt collectors out there. The problem is that they sent me a few letters on a debt I didn't know about and then they left me alone. I never called or responded.

Then 2 years later some other debt collector picks it up and he never contacted me and sues me,lol.....I got him by the balls though. I have reported him to the FTC, Attorney General, The licensing Division. So as soon as I get this case dismissed I am going after him big time. They got my validation and interrogatories 12 days ago and still haven't responded, because they don't have anything on me,lol. I am going to take this company down with the help of the state of course.

debt collectors do not care about your problems, they have their own. While some may have compassion for you they know that compassion doesn't make the bottom line of what they have to do. I'm not meaning to sound ugly but it's true.

I think that collectors and companies who are breaking the law now will completely step over the line. I do not believe that most debt collectors are a spawn from hell, but the ones who intentionally harass and lie might be spawns from spawns from hell.

I also think we will see more bankrupcies and more people getting sued and more 1099's.

I am NOT offended in any way paulmergel! Maybe it will open their eyes a little so they can see clearer! But I can see future court dates, 1099s, ch7 & 13s, and so on.

I doubt the collection industy will fall. In fact I think we will see more companies sprout up. We can only hope that they abide by the law. Collections is one of the strongest growing industry because most Americans do not have any savings, especially right now.

Seems like they wouldn't be strong due to sour economy. Seems like they would be hurting also. Maybe some new laws will pass for consumer protection during these troubling times.

II doubt the laws would change except to strengthen the fdcpa. Most if not all contracts state that if accounts default it's due in full and collection acitivity could happen.

It's not emotionally fair but it is a contract that was agreedupon when the consumer added their signature.

Man, that STINKS! Seems to me the ones that are going to make out fairley good are the CA and the ones that prey upon the weak! Hopefully, these CA will work more with the cunsumer.

I for one do not see how this recession is NOT going to affect the collection industry in SOME way, it could cause them to be even MORE aggressive, or swing the other way (doubtful). Desperate people take desperate measures, the collection industry isn't exempt.

They have an advantage right now I would think. A lot of people are unemployed, unemployment is exempt from garnishment, right?

Lawsuits will be filed in higher numbers because in most states, judgments are good for up to 20 years and can be reinstated. Once a person returns to work, they got them where they want them. Before the collapse of the economy, debt collectors where unsure of a persons income status, but now it is more of a greater chance the person who owes is unemployed so debt collectors are going with the odds that a person is unemployed, and are almost guaranteed to collect once the person returns to work.

Would I be wrong to say that?

there is difference between legitimate and honest collector's.like FYI and JDB'S,RENT-A-LAWYERS,AND UNLICENSED,UNBONDED CA'S.that is who should go into the tub.to guest.any CA that does that to someone effected by this economy is as described above.by that i don't mean FYI or legit responsible collectors.besides who's to say that the CA uses unsavory means to get the judgement it still can be vacated or dismissed down the road too.

Well, they can get in line...I don't own anything out-right! I wonder if the govt will give us a bailout?! Sorry, that's a sore topic for me!

I can gripe about this bail out stuff all day! I NEVER agreed with it to start with!
