Asset Care Inc are a scam. They leave a recording on our answering machine every few days for the past year. I do not own anyone any money and I have never received anything in the mail from them.

This is a scam organization that calls all the time. I have reported asset care inc to the Attorney General's Office here in Ohio and I urge everyone that gets these calls to do the same.
these are scam artists and will be dealt with. I can promise that!

They have been sued 14 times in Federal court for FDCPA violations. Interesting that not one person has filed a complaint against them with the BBB.

I did a BBB search for Asset care inc , which has 7 listings (the 8th one is a Roofing contractor). Most interesting is the bottom: Quote:

AssetCare aka NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
Aha!

Just got off the phone with a person there named Angela, after the third call this week, I called the number right back for the second time. (These phone calls have been going on for sometime.) When the phone was answered i asked (Angela) what Asset Care was? No answer. I was put on hold for 5 minutes. When the phone call was taken off of hold it was treated as a fresh call, with the normal corporate greeting. Again, I asked what Asset Care was, in return she asked my name. Again no explanation of what the company is or does. When I replied truthfully she said that they had the wrong number and that they would take me out of the system. This was told tom me on the first call back this week. I am going to pull my phone bills and report them to my states (MO) AG, as well as the BBB.

Several people in our small town are getting daily recorded calls from Asset Care Inc. I think the only care they have is to get hold of your assets. I know that we do not have any outstanding debts and neither do some of the other people who get these calls. I have a friend who did work for a collection agency and she said they do not make these types of calls. If it is a real collection agency they will have a person call you or they will mail you a letter explaining.

I got a letter from Asset Care Inc. informing me of a debt. It clearly states in the letter that I can pay via check or money order and, to take advantage of their offer to settle for 60%, write settlement on it. I called a representative and asked if this were true and she told me that I would have to give her my credit card information over the phone in order to settle. If I mail in a money order, it would received as a payment and I would be responsible for the entire amount, even if I write settlement on it. The lady I talked to was rude. She didn't get loud or use vulgar language, but she talked over me and tried to finish my sentences. She also talked so fast that I had to ask her to repeat herself (she didn't like this very much.) I want to pay, but I also want to be protected from being scammed.

well then, you get a DV letter out to the address instead.send it certified mail return receipt.do not give them anything over the phone.since she put it that way make them prove they have legal right to collect.

Update: After talking to the representative the first time, I received a letter stating that my payment was due per the arrangement I made with the office (I never made any arrangements). I called the office a second time and informed that representative that I never made any arrangements and in fact there was sending a letter in the mail to them asking them to verify the debt. One day after my letter was received and signed for (I sent it certified with a return receipt) I received another letter stating that I have not kept the payment arrangement and I needed to contact them within 3 days to discuss it. When I contacted them, I was told that my account was no longer with AssetCare, but I needed to pay the account balance. This doesn't make any sense to me. If I don't have an account with you, why do I need to pay you? The representative couldn't give me a straight answer about anything and tried to talk over me...again. I did everything I was supposed to and I'm over it now. If there's something I missed, please let me know, otherwise I'm done with the situation.

I have been getting automated calls from this company for months, probably 5 a month for over a year, never a call from a real person, and nothing in the mail. I pay all my bills on time and have never had a debt. I'm sure this is one of those scam companies mentioned on Dateline. If you start up with them, they never let go.

I just called them because the number shows up 5 time a day in on certain days. I told the lady I was calling because the number keeps showing up multiple times and she got smart and said: We're calling for you! She said it real sh*ty. I told her I just spoke with her last week and told her I'm not working right now and when I start working I will take care of it! Then she said: well how come you couldn't pay in 2006? I replied back by saying well this is 2010 and I told you I would take care of it when I get a job. So she said well you could have taken care of this in 2006 when you were working! I said whatever and hung up!.

I decided to look them up because I've never recieved mail from them. So I scrolled down and found this site and I am glad I did! I am going to report them to the better business bureau and the attorney generals office here in Indiana!

How do we stop this constant harrassment? We don't owe anyone any money for anything. My wife will no longer answer the phone unless she sees the caller ID from someone she knows on our dish TV. There must be a way that these people can be stopped from calling our phone at all hours of the day? Anyone have a suggestion?

The only way to stop them is the change your phone number, cheap it a private number, and never use it to apply for ANYTHING. We recently did this and the calls have stopped. If we end up needing to apply for something we will get one of those disposable cell phones to use as our number for the application and then once it is approved we'll cancel it. It's a pain in the tookus but not nearly as annoying as 3 or more calls a day every day for months and months! Also I agree with the above poster about sending a written (return receipt requested) DV letter. This makes them legally responsible to PROVE that you have a legal debt and that it is owed to THEM specifically. This company doesn't pursue legal debts and cannot produce one and will not so they will continue to harass you to try and frustrate you into paying a debt that either is not yours is not legal. Protect yourself! NEVER call them, never give them your name over the phone and NEVER say 'yes' to any question because they will manipulate your answer to sound like you are agreeing to a debt. If you use any words that acknowledge a debt in ANY WAY you become legally responsible to pay it even if it was not initially a legal debt!!!!

I just received this same call today, an automated message but it left a message to call "roderick latimer" at that same 866 number above. who can i report these people to? sadly, i do have debts but pay my bills on time. this is ridiculous that there must be people out there who are scared to death and pay because they think this is a legitimate organization.

R U kidding me??!!! This corporation is a scam. The call center people are a bunch of low rate, unintelligent people who cant even get a job scrubbing toilets. I know alot of african americans and they are extremely intelligent and poliet but these people, especially a Mr. Dickerson is an absolute gorilla!! He has such a neandertholic code of conduct, and then you get this floor supervisor who is suppose to be in charge, probably a high school teenager with a night job so he can afford his weed while living at home with his "mummy". The want you to verify your information when you verify your name its all "gravy" but when you refuse to verify any other information the get rude and obnoxious. The say " den dis muss be you, cuz why is you getting all upset, dis muss be you den". A bunch odf low life thugs that give regular bright human being a bad name. They deal with debt back "in the day" 10-15 years ago. R U serious??? Go back to school, get a life, get an education so you can communicate effectively!!!

I get automated calls regularly, but just erase them from my answer machine. I'm not fooled by "companies" like this. In fact, I'd love to speak to a live person so I could drop a few F-bombs on them. I have no debt other than house and car, so it's all BS. I wish there was a way to have Roderick Latimer brought before the legal system and see if he ends up with O.J. Simpson. Maybe they can play computer golf together in prison. Ignore! Ignore! Ignore! Even if you think you may have a bad debt. Just IGNORE!!!

They still call me daily and leave a message on my machine. Now it's a man's voice. I have decided to let them call me until "Hell freezes over!" I want to be their most sought after person who doesn't owe them anything. I figure one of these days an actual LIVE person will call me. If I'm home to take the call, I will drop a few F-bombs on him/her and then notify the Attorney General's office in their state and mine. I'm curious how persistant they will be.

Well, I haven't heard from AssHole Care since election day (November 2nd). I'm sure they will resurface one day either with more phone calls or a letter. Can't wait to hear from them so I can tell them where they can take their company AND Roddy Latimer!!

I've recieved calls from them for the past four months. Finally got through the automated BS and spoke with a rep yesterday. They had my SS# and referances to a debt from 2006- one that IS in a collection agency that I AM paying to! They also had a 10y/o address... I told them to send me a bill- it will be interesting to see if they do so. I cannot press charges until they take my money- I am checking with the FBI to see how much I need to send befor they will show interest.

I got a letter from them asking me to pay 6 year old bill which I believed was paid by my insurance. Im not sure what theyre talking about so I called them. The representative asked me to pay over the phone by giving them my bank account number and routing number. When I refused, the supervisor took the phone rudely forced me to pay even a small amount over the phone and keep asking me about my bank account number and routing number. I doubted its a scam so I told them I cant pay them and hang up on them.

So, does anyone know what the next move is after we call their bluff? If this is on my credit report I want it gone. I also spoke to a woman named Angela and requested she send me more info and proof of the debt. She stopped typing as I was giving her info. I also had another woman hang up on me last week when I told her I didn't appreciate her attitude when all I did was ask her for a name of the doctor I "saw". I called the doctors office and they actually directed me back to a voice mail.....I just want the calls to stop, and my credit restored. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
