RE: Request for Removal of Credit Inquiry
Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing to request that your organization remove the credit inquiry you pulled on my credit report on or about [DATE].
Inquiry Details:
Company Name: [Your Company Name]
Type of Inquiry: [Hard/Soft]
Date of Inquiry: [Date]
Reason: [I did not authorize this inquiry/I was not approved for credit/etc.]
I did not authorize this credit inquiry, or I withdrew my application before credit was extended. You should remove this inquiry from my credit report as it was made without proper authorization.
Hard inquiries negatively impact credit scores and should only remain on credit reports when credit is actually extended. Since no credit was extended, this inquiry should be removed.
Please provide written confirmation that this inquiry has been removed from my credit report within 15 business days of receiving this letter.
If this inquiry is not removed, I will contact the credit bureaus directly to request its removal and may pursue legal action.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
