A collector responded to my request to valid the debt. It's 10 years old. They did state that they acknowledge the debt is past the statute of limitations. They further stated they would not sue nor report to the credit bureaus.

How could I respond?

Thank you

Better to leave it. Why did you make a request for debt validation for a 10 year old debt? The moment they validate it and you acknowledge it, the SOL clock will restart. Right now, the debt is not on your credit report. Neither, you can be sued for it. So, let it be.

No need to respond. Don't acknowledge it.

Hi David! You are not legally to pay off any debt which has passed the statute of limitations in your state. So, it's better not to acknowledge the debt. However, you can pay off that debt, at least the principal amount, out of moral obligations.

Hi David!

I think you do not have to do anything regarding the debt validation case. The case is already 10 years old.

If the debt collector denies to sue you or report it to the credit bureaus, it means the debt will be cleared out from your credit report automatically.

Just relax!
