I have a query - Does a wrong information remain in the credit report if I don't dispute or there's some mechanism that the information is checked by some agencies?

Unfortunately, there is no mechanism to remove wrong information from your credit report automatically. You have to check your credit report, find out the wrong information, and dispute it with the credit bureau. That's the only way to remove the wrong information from credit report.

Under Fair Credit Reporting Act, both the credit bureau and your lenders are responsible for correcting inaccurate information in your credit report. Inform the credit bureau in writing and clearly mention each item you want to dispute along with the facts and figures.
