I had the same experience. I guy from EC & A called me as "Investigator Price". He left a message, when I called him back, I asked me to hold, he said he had the states attorneys office on the other line. I could tell right away that I was getting fed a line of BS. I know I owe the money but they were not willing to make any arrangements for payment. They said that immediate payment in full was required or a case would be filled in Dallas Co court against me for passing bad checks and intent to defraud. None of which is true. I tried to make payment arrangements and he claimed he was unable to make such arrangements. Moneygram was the only method of payment he would accept. No check card or check by phone. I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB of FL and request a full investigation of their practices. I have been in collections before myself and you cant do things like that. They are not attorneys. to was threatened by Ellis&Crosby , because I also could not pay my payday loan on time as the loan company wanted me to I only owed them $250.00 but Ellis&Crosby told me yesterday that it would be $1717.50 or I would lose my job and they told me I had to pay by 5:00PM on 7/5/05. The person I spoke to her name was Valentine and she wanted to know had I ever been charged with fraud or was I on any kind of probation. In the background I heard her say "Get me a background check on Lily Boyd" and she contacted me on my job. Until today I to thought that they were lawyers and I also am employed for a legal office and Ms. Valentine asked me did I work for a legal firm! Iam certainly going to do something about them.

I was threatned too, In texas they cannot arrst you and they also cannot file a suit on you. Its a LENDING INSTITUTION which legally cannot file on you. Heres the article. Im so sick of them, If they call you agian their membership has been revoked and they should not be making calls to anyone but their lawyer, bc i want to sue the mess out of them I to work for a lawfirm, and if they call agian ill be sure to tell them that I NOW KNOW!
How retared can they be?

I can feel the hardships that have been caused by the collection agency Ellis and Crosby. Their membership has been cancelled for a period of 90 days effective from June 1. During this period, Ellis Crosby has been ordered to undertake certain actions as directed by the Ethics Committee and provide proof of completion to the Committee. Thus, they cannot take any action in this period to collect the debt.

I suggest all of you to keep yourselves away from payday loans as much as possible. Their aftermaths are the worst and it will take long to recuperate your credit file.

At present, since this collection agency is offending you, please use your consumer rights as the fdcpa law has provided you the protection to fight against the unfair practices and false statements represented by such obnoxious collection agents.

I will suggest you to record all the telephonic conversation of the collectors and present them to a lawyer for a potential lawsuit. No one is allowed to hurt the consumer rights of an individual and you should teach them a lesson by filing a lawsuit.

Lily, if they continue to call you in your workplace, you can stop them from doing so. Executing your legal rights, you can send a letter to them stating that your employer dishonors your calls at work and they should further stop contacting you anymore.
