I've asked a few questions regarding my credit report in this forum (under Credit Report Help) a few topics down and haven't received a lot of answers. I've pulled Experian and Equifax reports. I printed them both out today and saw something on the Experian report that I didn't notice the other day.

Under Status Details, it has "this account is scheduled to continue on until month-2006,2007."

The dates are very near when the 7 years should be up for negative information. I'm wondering if that's when it will automatically get taken off or will I have to contact the CRA to get them to take it off. I have 2 that are scheduled to come off in August 2006 and one in Sept 2006.

Even under the Midland Credit where it says Date Opened is 05/2005 and Date of Status 05/2000, it says that it is scheduled to continue until August 2006. Oddly enough, that's the account Holloway & Moxley are referencing, wanting me to pay when I'm clearing out of SOL period.

Could someone please help me out and give me some answers about all of this? Thanks!

Hi cedarsmom

You have the right information! Accurate negative information gets removed from the credit report after 7 years. The laws have been nicely explained in the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The bureaus have their automated system which deletes such records from the consumers' files. In some cases, the system fails to delete such items. Check your credit report during that period and find out if the updates have taken place. If not, dispute with the CRA reporting the item and they will correct it immediately.

Thanks for the quick response.

So I should take the "this account is scheduled to continue on-" to be when it's supposed to fall off of the Experian report?

My Equifax report is very different. It hardly has Dates opened and doesn't have Date of Last Payment or anything like that. When this stuff falls off the Experian report, should I contact Equifax? I need to contact them anyway about many things, including what I mentioned above about the dates. Once I ask for an investigation about the Dates Opened, Dates of Last Payments, etc... it's their job to contact the creditors and get that info, correct?

Also, and I'm not getting an answer about this anywhere, but on the reports, Midland Credit is saying that the Date Opened is 05/2005, but the Date of Status is 05/2000. Are they trying to re-age it??

It's showing on Experian that one will come off this month, and the other will come off in Feb 2007. They say the exact same thing, but different account numbers. I DID have 2 associates cards and Midland got them both. They both say the same about the dates opened and dates of status, but why will one drop off this month and the other drop off in Feb.?

*bump*

I still haven't gotten an answer to one of my previous questions about the Date Opened being later (2005) than the Date of Status (2000).

Should I feel absolutely positive about the date Experian says "this account is scheduled to continue on until.."? In past experiences, are they normally correct with that date?

I know there are people around here that can answer those questions. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!!
