Can anyone help me about my medical bill payment ?

A medical lab is saying I owe them for lab work done. The doctors office I went to at that time did two tests on me on two seperate days and billed my insurance. this medical lab is also trying to bill me for those tests done on the same days. When I contacted the medical lab to dispute this they say talk to the doctors office. The doctors office says that they cannot do anything I have to deal with the lab.I never signed or agreed to be billed by anyone but the doctors office, I have sent dispute letters but they have thrown them back in my face saying even though I did not authorize these bills the doctors office did. How can I get rid of this without resorting to an attorney. I now live about 1600 miles from that area.
