My husband and I live in Kentucky and have the pleasure of dealing with MCM. HAHA. It is concerning a credit card debt that my husband has. When they first contacted him, they(mcm and my husband)agreed on payment of $100/month. We made the payments on it for about a year or so. In April of '06, due to financial issues, we stopped making the payments for 2 months. Then they started.....The threat of pay one of these three option or they(MCM) will garnish his checks. Well there is were I got scared. So since I am authorized to speak with them reguarding this, I called. I have learned that everytime I call, the amout of debt seems to be changing. The lady I spoke with told me that we needed to make the payments or they would start charging more interest on top of the interest that they have already charged. At what point does this stop. They have offered a settlement that we were not able to pay at the time. But after reading up on some of this, I am afraid that if we settle it will be bad, and if we pay it will be bad. I have read that sometimes if you pay, it starts the 7 years over again. Is this true? I have requested from mcm to send something in writing as far as any payment arrangements that we have made, but they do not have such a letter to send.
WHATEVER!!I just have bad feelings about this company. There seems to not be any consistancy with them. Every person (account managers) that you speak with have a different story and amount for us. I am really concerned because we will be trying to buy a house together soon and I want everything to be ok. What sould we do????
Thanks
ks

First of all, welcome to the forums :D .You need to send them a debt validation letter http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/ certified, return receipt, and also a cease and desist letter that all communication be done by mail.Google them in the box to your left and you will see others who have had dealings with them. Keep us posted...Karen

Tsks, unfortunately you are dealing with this painful company - MCM. You will be surprised to read their horror stories who force people to pay on accounts that are already disputed. You have been making payments to them for over a year. You need to know for sure whether it actually went towards your debt account or into their pocket. Get in writing about your past payments before you send any money next time. They must update your account first or else you should consult an attorney.

SOL gets renewed every time a payment is done towards the account. The date of last payment activity notes the beginning of the SOL timeframe. If the company is trying to pocket your money, you have stronger reasons to dispute with them. Don't accept their settlement offer out of fear.
