Has anyone heard of this man or company? My payday loan was bought by this man from VC Funding. He called over a week ago threatening legal action if I didn't pay $580 by 3pm that day, when the loan was only $225 including the fee. I called him back and told him I want a debt validation letter explaining proof that I 1) owe that amount and 2) why I owe that amount. He said no he wouldn't send one, so I asked for the address of the company so I could send my request in writing for a validation letter. He gave me some line about how "by the laws of his company they don't have to give out the address." So I told him if he didn't send me a debt validation letter proving that I owe this money I don't owe him anything. I started telling him about the rights I'm aware of by law. He started screaming at me calling me 'lady' saying he has been doing this for 7 years and dont tell him about law. Also how he's dealt with several people like me who think they know so much about the law, and that I better get a lawyer because I'm going to need one. He wished me luck because "I'll need it" then hung up. I haven;t heard anything since. What do I do?

United Federal Dept is one of the worst debt collectors violating the federal laws. Go through the links below and you will find others' experiences with this company.

You are legally not obligated to pay anything to the company until they have validated the debt in writing. It is your legal right to know if the company is practicing legitimate collections. (In most cases, they didn't have the account information of the people and tried to scam people) Watch out!

These people are vultures. They will threaten anything. They will threaten to show up at your work or home. I would check my usary laws in state. Check to see how much you have given them so far. Then take action. If you have overpaid write them and tell them so. Good Luck KYSIDE38

I haven't sent them anything I told them I wanted a debt validation letter, if they didn't send me one they weren't getting a penny. "Shawn" threatened me telling me to get a lawyer because I'll need one and hung out. He doesn't scare me and I know my rights. So until I get a letter I owe NOTHING! Thank you so much for informing me of this!
