debt consolidation companies in mass.

I'm thinking about getting into a debt consolidation
program because I've been behind with my credit card
payments and I'm simply having difficulties paying them. I look at the ranking chart for MA, and I'm
wondering if people here have deal with the companies
listed there. Besides looking at the rating there I
also want to hear opinions about them here. Does
anyone here know anything?
Here are the companies listed:
American Consumer credit counseling, Inc.
Debt Cure
debt settlement Assocs Limited
Francis Lafayette Law Office
Info Center
Universal Collection
Is it better to deal with companies in my home
state or it really doesn't matter? If it's the
latter then anyone knows any nationally reputable
companies out there?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sonny, you will get the feedbacks about the consolidation companies in your AG's office and the Dept of Finance. If there are more negatives for one company, you will definitely step back. But if you find good feedbacks for some company, it will be good for you to make easy decisions. The contract with the company should be in writing with all the points very nicely explained. Go ahead and get in touch with your local authorities. Working with companies outside your state doesn't put much difference as long as you have everything documented. It's just that you won't be able to communicate with them in person. :)
