I have just started getting calls for someone named Daniel Dunn at my home, from allied interstate. I don't want to give Allied any personal information, because the first time I called to check on who they were, they were very rude. I found a different number at this web site, and called it. I spoke to a receptionist, who gave me a number for their "consumer advocacy" group, and told me I would have to leave a message for them to call me back. Back to square one ... should I give them my info to find out what is going on? After reading this website, I am not so sure I want to do that.

Any suggestions?

I forgot to mention, I have never heard of Daniel Dunn, but my last name STARTS with DUNN.

You have to say. This person does not live here. Stop calling my home.

Don't answer the phone and when they ask for the debtor and say no he/she isn't. This implies that they do live there and will continue to call.

You do not have to release any information. They might ask you to verify address. Or last four of a social. You do not need to do this.

As for leaving a messagte on their service. Call it. Leave a message. Tell them that this person doesn't live there and never has and you need the number taken off.

This is forceful contact with the wrong person. Use your legal rights to fight in this matter. Send a cease and desist letter using one of the fdcpa laws. Don't give out your personal information in this course.

Send it through certified mail with return receipt requested. The receipt will be used as a legal proof if they violate the laws by contacting you after receiving the letter.
