My take is that you must update HK about the latest activity of your loan companies. If the lender sends your account to collections, a negative remark will appear in your credit report for the next seven years. Even though, the debt will get paid off after sometime but the damage once caused cannot be removed. Get in touch with HK and know how they are going to work with your lenders. You want to prevent any sort of negatives from being shown in your file.

Most pdl companies will tell you that in the beginning because they want their money right away. When I started debt consolidation, I heard that a lot. Some companies refused their proposals but cashed their checks. Keep us updated on your progress. Since you only have two, can you work out payment arrangments with the original lenders?

I know some companies stop calling after you have made a couple of payments to them. If you get a call from them, tell that you are working with your consolidation company and they are sending the payments towards the accounts. Gradually, the phone calls will stop unless you default further.

Yes, the company is working with you because you have proof of the check being cashed. At that stage, I don't think any company should take legal actions because they are getting their money and filing a case doesn't make their claim stronger.
