How long have you been married? The reason I am asking is because some of the debt accounts might have gone past the SOL period. Do some checking on the statutes of your state. There might be a fixed period within which you are required to pay the debt accounts. Once that period is over, the companies won't be able to collect the money from you legally, though they will report the negative item in your file.
If your financial state allows you to pay the debts and they are far away from the dates on which they are to be automatically removed from the file, paying those will help in improving your scores slightly.
