A lot after the C & D?

My payroll dept will tell them to fly a kite, but I don't want them calling the world.

I think they'd get sued...by the company, not by me.

Any help would be appreciated

Sonic uses a lot of unfair tactics during collections. They are pretty famous for that. Keep in mind, Sonic is not licensed in the US and they have violated most of the state laws.

Take their calls before they sound disturbing for you in front of others. Be aware of your rights and have complete information about your file with them.

If you find any of their actions violating the state laws, put a complaint in your attorney general office and the FTC, BBB. There are already many complaints against them because of their shady business practices.

Know something new about Sonic here http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/collection-agencies/pdl-garnishment.html

I am dealing with Sonic as well and to be honest, they have been very quiet, I'm wondering if this is the calm before the storm. I know in my past experience with them they called me everyday and pressured me to send them money via money gram.

One of my previous post
Yes, I did, my last discussion I had with Sonic over a week ago, they also stated it's against the law for them to submit a wage garnishment in the state of Texas. I thought that was very interesting since they also state that they don't fall under state & local laws...

As far as my rights, they don't have to abide by a C & D do they? I don't think the original creditor has to abide by a c & d.

Under the fdcpa laws, the cease and desist communication is applicable only on collection agencies, it doesn't work on the credit companies or the lenders. But still, put your point to them in writing.

I'd be interested to see if Sonic is as aggressive now or if they're keeping a lower profile. A group of Florida borrowers has filed a class action suit against them, the summons and complaint have been served and the case is now pending. I'd love to know if that has had any kind of chilling effect on their tactics.

I know when I defaulted with them last winter, they were ruthless with me. They contacted me at work after I had mailed and faxed them a cease and desist letter. That was violation number one with them. They even sent my boss an e-mail at work stating that I had defaulted on a loan with them. The collections department was rude everytime I spoke to them. I finally just started flooding them with the laws in my state, etc. This was after I had been in debt consolidation with T &C. They played so many games, it's not even funny. They finally wrote off my balance after 6 complaints against them in three different states, and the fact that I was getting ready to sue them for their illegal tactics. I'm glad to hear that someone finally sued them. This is something that I will need to follow.

Yes, Dennis, Please keep us posted about that one, OK? I am lucky to have an employer who is progressive enough to keep sending their wage assignments back--and a supervisor told me that she sent so many back that Sonic doesn't even send them anymore! (Gotta love Marylou the Garnishment Supervisor!!)
