Shirley, Citibank will possibly send your file to collection if they want to. In the meantime, have you talked with Hess Kennedy about their call? They are supposed to send one proposal in writing to your credit company. I hope they are awaiting a positive response from Citibank.

Even if Citibank decides to send your account to collections, your credit counseling company will still be able to arrange something with the company. Don't worry if the account goes to collections. HK will handle everything in the right way. If you start receiving collection calls, forward them to HK.

Citi will be very aggressive. However, once they farm it out to a third aprty the cost of the debt drops 50%. Make sure hess kennedy monitors all collection activites form citi and their third party debt collectors.

There are mixed opinions about HK and it can happen with any other company. If you find something good about a company, you will also get to hear something bad in some other ways. Do the best of your research and talk with the company you are enrolled with. It is their responsibility to deliver you the results of the program they for which they have been hired. debt settlement programs take longer time to deliver their results. Your consultant should be readily available to you with all the latest developments happened on your account.

Be Careful with HK. I signed up with them, and Citi sent me to collections. When collections called me, I had basically had it with HK at that point, and I just talked to collections company myself. The collections company settled with me for about a third of the total debt. So what am I paying Hess and Kennedy for?? Indeed, I've tried to terminate my contract with Hess and Kennedy, confirmed termination by phone and sent them a letter - guess what, they continued to withdraw money from my account for unspecified legal fees. I have had to close my account to protect it from the pre-approved automatic withdrawal that I granted them in the beginning. I have had to enter in to re-Aging programs with all the rest of my cards, so that I can try to repair the damage done to my credit score. Hess and Kennedy now owes me $2400 which they are refusing to refund to me - they claim it is money they "earned" in legal fees.
If you want to talk about this with me, please email me at email address removed as per forum rules - Mike

I work with a different settlement company myself. I have heard mixed reviews on this company as well. For one, check with the BBB to see how their standing is with them. Secondly, take some time to search around the forums about them to see experiences of others who have done business with them. I checked my settlement company out before I signed with them and I'm happy I did so. I've had no problems.

David P,

I am currently having problems with Hess and Kennedy. Can you point to where I can find more information on the Florida Attorney general investigation.

Thanks,

The Attorney General of Florida does not have one unresolved complaint against Hess Kennedy Company.

David P is spreading rumors and the moderator of this message board should remove that post after contacting Charlie Crist's office to confirm that David is posting untrue statements.

Feel free to contact Charlie Crist's office for more information: 850-414-3300. You can ask for the division that would provide information regarding Florida Businesses. David P is a liar.

All open Florida attorney general investigations are public record David.

Here is the link where all active investigations are reported: http://myfloridalegal.com/lit_ec.nsf/investigations

To the person who posted that Hess Kennedy settled your account with MBNA, how long did it take? We have been working with them for 7 months and haven't seen any results.

I am currently a client with Hess Kenndy and I have found them so far to be great. They did send letters to my creditors about me being in the debt settlement program. Beneficial / HSBC was just fine with it and they haven't called at all but they did say they would have to continue posting that I'm late on payments to the credit bureas. However I also have debt with Citi Financial. They have not been so nice. I think the CitiGroup all together is just ruthless about getting money from their customers period. Before I even signed up for the settlement program Citi Financial would call me if I was one day late with my payment...even though I had a grace period. I mean Citi would call 3 and 4 times a day. So Citi is just a bunch of jurks reguardless if you are in any kind of repayment program or not. However Hess Kennedy has been in touch with my other creditors and they responded just fine... Citi was the only one with a problem.
