Oh yeah, rush right on in there and get ANOTHER PDL....Sounds like a good idea. *sarcastic* :)
That's awesome though, that they were willing to share the information. That was a great idea! Thanks for sharing that!

I wonder if it is the new marketing strategy of these payday lenders. Making contacts with people and then giving a personal touch to it.
Amy, I guess by becoming friendly to you and telling a sob story, this person was trying to convince you for another payday loan. Beware of such tricks...ok.. Never know, when any of these slimy tactics work out and put in trap.

I have learned a hard lesson. There is no trick I'll fall for. I'm trying to fight what these people say I owe them, I'm hoping the AG will help since these guys are not licensed in my state and have overcharged me what the state of Ohio says a pdl can charge a customer. I've got my letters ready to send to each of them tomorrow. I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

You're doing just fine! And you are also stronger than I am--cuz I never would have had the guts to survey storefront lenders! Let us know the outcome...

I figured they didn't know me and I was surprised they explained the law and then the lady gave her story, (if it was true). Kscornell, are you the one who sent ASAP a settlement letter and asked that the account be listed as paid in full? I'm asking for that in my letters and then some. After I did the math it came to $275 in over charges on a $300 loan on each of them. Don't know if it'll work, but they are not licensed in Ohio and they also violated Consumer Protection Law 1345.03 by committing "Unconscionable consumer sales practices". I'll see what happens I guess.
Amy, It wasn't me who sent the letter, but I will be interested
Amy,
It wasn't me who sent the letter, but I will be interested to hear what happens in your situation. I really don't think they would dare to take you to court and be exposed for the loan sharks they are. Take care and be sure and share your success story with us--because I know you'll have one!
