Hi Everyone,
I feel so blessed to be a part of this wonderful community. All of you are helping me fight my problems with PDL's, much of which was my own doing. In return, I am doing my best to help others in the forums with what little knowledge I have.
Now here's an idea I want to throw on the table. It seems that our membership represents close to every state in the USA. As we all know, there is strength in numbers, right?
If members of our government could see how many people have been affected by PDL's and predatory loans, don't you think there would be more efforts to pass laws banning them?
What if we all pledged to email and write our local government officials, along with those that represent us in Washington? I have already done this with my Senators, Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer of California and am going to move on to other officials.
I know everyone's heard of Moveon.org, a grassroots group that started on the net. I think we could be just as powerful. Let me know what you think, thanks!

I'm with you. I've already started with my AGs office and I'm waiting for the Div. of Fin. Institutions response, they should be receiving my complaints any day now, the lady stated she was looking forward to them. I'm also taking the names of the other pdls I found on this site and giving this dept. all of their names/aliases/contact info. etc...Even though I've not done business with them I think the state needs to be aware they are conducting illegal business in our state. Since I've gotten involved with this I've spent alot of spare time researching and gaining valuable info. from this site. Thank You! And I'm all for your national movement idea. I encourage anyone from OH on this forum to file complaints with the AGs office and Div. of Fin. Insitutions, THEY DO RESPOND to these complaints and act on them, YOU WILL NOT BE IGNORED!

I've been doing more thinking (or obsessing :))) about this--and I think what we have to get out in the open is why we took the PDL's in the first place--in my case, because of crappy credit. I know I am not alone here--as many of us did it because of the same reason.
Are there other reasons? What are they? And what kind of solution do we propose? Your thoughts??
I am amazed by the amount of knowledge and insight I have found here, and look forward to reading the posts from Amy, PollyandSay and Finsfan among many others. I know we can do this!

I took mine out because I am a single mother of 2 disabled children, my youngest had hearing aid implant surgery (he's profoundly deaf), out of a $100,000 plus medical bill I needed $1200 for the remaining balance of a hearing aid which costs $15,000 (not bad!)-good insurance, at the same time my car needed EXPENSIVE repairs, I'm about to finish my Chpt 13, so I could not get a conventional loan, and not enough equity in my house to take out an equity loan which I had permission to do. So one night I was crying so hard and I decided to click on one of my spam mails advertising cash advances. And the rest is history. I promised my son he would hear after his surgery and I needed my car. I did not want to let my son down. So now here I am, I am having success with my complaints with the Ags office and I am waiting to hear from the other pdls as to a resolution to the situation and their response as to why they are operating in OH without a license. My proposal is to BAN ALL INTERNET PDLS PERIOD! And go after the storefronts. There has to be a better way. I know I found out in OH the credit unions are trying to make programs for members who would otherwise get a pdl. They are trying to make an alternative for people like me.

I'm like you and polly. I have literally become OBSESSED with this whole mess and how to stop the crooks and hopefully help others avoid the mistakes I have made and know their rights. These pdls rely on tactics such as fear and embarassment in hopes that consumers do not exercise their rights, and it works. A fool and his money shall soon part, but then the fool educates himself and fights back.
