Hi, everybody. I've been visiting this site to get some help with a debt settlement program. I've narrowed my search to 3 companies--hopefully somebody can give me their take.

Debtxs-they have a few problems, but they are also big. I am a little worried about the number of complaints, but maybe it's to be anticipated. I also heard that they have some issues with the attorney general or something.

Forgetadebt.com-these guys are really nice and intelligent. I like them the most, and most people rave about them, but they want me to spend more per month b/c I just got an income boost. The other companies allow me to pay less, but for 6 months more. I'm not sure if the time is worth an extra few bucks a month. Any thoughts?

H&K-they're an attorney firm, but have some issues it seems. Will they do more for me b/c they're an attorney firm than anybody else?

You have already narrowed down your search to three settlement companies from others. Now, you should take an individual quote from each of them and see what they have to offer you. Each of them will put something attractive so that you sign up with them. Make your own decisions after analyzing what you actually need from them, not what they have to offer you. You will make better decisions after talking with them individually about your accounts. Inquire from these settlement companies whether they have any experiences working with your creditors.

thanks for the advice. I did the comparison and felt that one program made better sense for me than the others. My hunch is usually right and the gentleman from forgetadebt.com really impressed me with his committment to getting rid of this stupid debt. I ended up going with a program they offer called debt forecasting that is kind of like settlement, but sounds like a more reasonable approach to me. I also end up saving more money at the end than the regular debt settlement companies were offering. it seems like the best approach for me, especially after I heard about all the problems Debtxs and H&K have given people on this board. Wish me luck everybody!

Whatever you guys do, stay away from Debt XS at all costs. Check out the Texas Attorney General's homepage. Debt XS has been charged with all kinds of shady stuff and the AG has forced them to give money back to customers. I'll be contacting the AG in Tx and in my home state to see how much of the thousands Debt XS has screwed me out of I may actually get back. Sadly, it will take years to repair the credit damage I incurred due to their poor advice.

I would run from DebtXS. After taking thousands of dollars I was sued by two companies and ended up having to file for bankruptcy. Stay away from them unless you have lots of money hanging around to help when you get sued.
