Citibank
Did citibank say that "no one from hess kennedy contacted us" If they did, we are sending cease and desist letters to any creditor who lies to one of our clients by saying we did not contact them. Obviously we keep all copies of correspondence we send to them, and if the slander our law firm by saying we did not contact them, we will immediately file a civil action alleging business slander.
Please let me know if Citi contacts you again. They are more aggressive than other card companies, but a well worded Attorney General Complaint and Final Cease and Desist Letter works wonders.
Unfortunately, debt collectors are not the smartest people in the world, but their supervisors have a clue.

the law firm of hess, kennedy, and company
There is an article I found from the billings gazette about The Law Firm of Hess, Kennedy, and Company, however the forum won't let me post it. It is negative by the way. I am in the same boat I think as most people here who are suspecting fraud. I have done a lot of business over the internet and have had good luck and bad luck with companies of different fields.
From my experience this company smells rotten. I really don't know why their isn't more information on the web about their practice or why they havn't been shut down but this is a huge buyer beware. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have a rude awakening tommorrow when I see them at least try to charge my business account, however, I'm not sure what information my business partner gave them. We are generally really wise when dealing with the internet, however, we were hasty in getting a "debt consolidation" and happened to knock on the wrong door. I'm luckily not even late on any payments but thought I would consolidate into a cheaper rate to save money and make my bills easier to manage. I also thought that they were a debt consolidation loan company in which you would pay your creditors and then in return you pay them back.
I was led to Hess and Kennedy via a website called 123bedebtfree which had the option to choose between a debt consolidation or a debt settlement. I wanting a consolidation chose a consolidation. Now I find out that all the time we spent negotiating with 123bedebtfree was a waste of time because they sent me to Hess and Kennedy who arn't even consolidators they are debt councilors.
Well, reading some people's feedback on this forum has led me to believe that these people are 1) either over their head with too much work, 2) are complete scam, or 3) have settled with being somewhere in between those two descriptions. I can say they most likely arn't on the up and up when 75% of the forums messages are negative. I have a feeling too that some of the positive feedback are pawns set by Hess and Company to rock peoples boat into a state of confusion. There are also little things that are huge hints to some deception. They may run a business to some extent but probably not with the best intentions.
I'm not one to settle with being confused so I think, and I'm speaking to people who are also looking for a financial solution, to maybe find an option that isn't online like a credit union or another reputable loan service or credit card consolidator/settler. Or if your intent on doing something online make sure you spend time to do your homework and unwrap all the candy coating from these sites.

hess and Kennedy
I was directed to Hess and Kennedy by a local debt counselor. I di not find them on line. As a generla the whole process has happened as it was originally explained to me. If I have a complaint about Hess and Kennedy it is that they do not keep me as informed about what goes on as I would like. I do have to contact them periodicalyy to check their progress. And I have tried to use their on line contact to get just an e-mail report about progress and it never seems to work right. However, when I have called them they are always polite and have answered any questions that I have to my satisfaction.
Note to Hess Kennedy, an occassional update note would do wonders to ease the concerns of your debt settlements clients. I know cost need to stay low for the wholke thing to work, but even a quarterly or bi-annual notice would be helpful.
