I just received a letter in the mail from Sonic Payday, sorry there was no return address on it. Anyhow after I sent them the letter about in violation of Texas law and withdrawing the wage garnishment and a few other things. The letter states " We acknowledge receipt of your complaint dated 09/07/06. Please be advised that we have ceased all collections activity while we investigate the matter." Anyhow just thought I would pass this along.

Today was very interesting, not only did I receive a letter from Sonic, but I had to join a conference call with them and T & C. After we were transferred from many people at Sonic, we finally got a manager.

The manager indicated he wouldn't talk to T & C without written permission. I called his bluff, the letter I had sent them which they responded to ( received in the mail today) I had given them permission. He then pulled up the letter and said they don't deal with debt consolidation companies.

Then he went on to say how do I know there not licensed in the state of Texas, I said I checked with the attorney general's office. Then there was silence...

T &C then asked him where they could send payments, and if they would cash the checks sent. He said legally they had to.

He said they may turn this over to a third party for collections. T & C got all over him when he said that, and I also said I would contact the attorney general if that happens.

Bottomline he gave us the address where to send the payments, time will tell what happens...

I'm now starting to understand the games they play, and believe me I won't give in .....

You still need to file a complaint with your AG's office. If they charged you more interest than the state of TX allows you can apply the overage to your principal, but if you've paid the principal and then some then I would demand the pdl be marked "paid in full", if you file a complaint the AG will contact them, Sonic's already banned in California because consumers complained.

Bottome line is that Sonic broke the law by lending to you and charging illegal interest/charges if they are not licensed in your state. I paid a total of $630 in interest charges on a $300 pdl, once the AG's office contacted they couldn't mark my account paid in full fast enough and reassured me they would never contact me again, I also got this in writing from the pdl company.
