Wow,
Just got a phone call from the lovely Universal Fidelity, whose agent Dessica swore up and down wasn't Sonic--but was working WITH Sonic...I had gotten a bill from them last month saying my debt was $128, and I even called them to make sure this was correct, which I was assured it was.
I alerted Credit Advisors, the company I work with, about this, and they sent a check for $104 and told me it would be paid off this month.
I got a bill this week for $799!! And have gotten called on it already! I asked them what was up and was told I had two accounts (I had, but I had lumped them together to pay them off last year, or so I thought). I told Dessica I thought it was interesting that last month I was told that $128 was correct and all of a sudden, it's $799!! I asked for a DV letter, which I will send in writing.
They also told me that I've only made one payment (which is a lie)and I told them that first, their scummy company isn't licensed in California and second, all I have to pay by law is 15 percent interest, which I will do, but I ain't payin' squat until I see a DV letter on this new balance! Also, why would they have told me everything was kosher when I called and that $128 was all I owed, and bam, here this comes??? Just venting...

Ok,
The beat goes on...first off, Dessica swore up and down she wasn't in Texas, but Ohio (interesting, thought UF was in Texas!!)and when I called Credit Advisors, I was told that I have paid Sonic $1167.27--and since my two accounts totaled $1600, I think I only actually owe them $433 and change...BUT I want to backtrack and figure how much interest I've paid...
They did also offer me a settlement and knocked some off the balance last year..so I really need that DV letter!

or prelitigation. I got a call from july saying i owed them money from and old pdl which i thought we had settled when filed bankruptcy last year saying i owed 1000 and that they had a affidavit and had charges against me. I sent them 500 dollars but then decided to research them and came upon this site and the same stories. Should I continue to pay or report them. They wont give me an address or #.

Maria, Contact your bankruptcy attorney. If this was included in your case you dont owe a dime and they will be in trouble for harassing you. This is a federal crime after someone has discharged in bankruptcy. Good Luck KYSIDE38
