I live in Arizona what can my credit union do to stop these companies from taking money from my account???
Besides me having to close the account??

Who are the lenders? I suggest you talk to your bank about putting a stop payment on the checks with the loan companies. Or, you can block the company from making debits in your account. They use a transaction code by which the payments are done. If that one is blocked, the company will not get money out of your account.

One thing with blocking the debits for specific pdls is that since some of them operate under numerous names, they sometimes try debiting with different info if their previous debit attempt is blocked....at least that's what happened to me. I had to block ALL incoming debits to my account, which basically blocked me from using my own account. It was just easier to close my account and reopen a new one. If you close this account, can you not open a new one with the same credit union?

My credit union helped me, IN THE BEGINNING. But what they did after that was to allow the pdl to come through, and I had to close my checking account all together, and NOT open a new one and leave my savings open, so what did my credit union do? THEY ALLOWED MY SAVINGS TO BECOME OVERDRAWN BY LETTING THEM DO IT AGAIN. Even after putting blocks back on. So I am no longer with them and with another bank all together. In the end I did not get help.
