Can you receive debt consolidation even if your bills are not in collection yet?

Hi, welcome to the forums!

The program is designed to combine all of your debt into one lump-sum, and allow you to make a monthly payment. The debt conselor works with your creditors to help reduce the amount owe, usually by emiminating any high interest or late fees.

If you're currently not in collections, then maybe this program is not suited for you. What are the types of debt, and approximately how much do you? Try working with your creditors directly.

The program is tailored to your specific needs, but as with any program it will take time. Because sometimes certain programs might take 3 years, this could cause a creditor to deny the request of the counselor, and just let it go into collections. Which in the long run is like a strike against your credit.
