Welcome to the forum! This Tony Wolf is just trying to scare you. What type of debt is he contacting you about? Someone wouldn't be calling you at work for a physical description to have you arrested if this was a legitimate threat. A lot of debt collectors use illegal threats and harrassment to scare people into paying, because they figure that most people are ignorant of the laws and they get away with this type of threatening behavior.

If you register with this site, you are entitled to a free debt consultation with a counselor, and they can discuss your situation and explain the options available to you. This site has helped me tremendously with my debt issues. Everyone on here is really friendly and helpful. We'd love to have you join us!

Start recording the phone calls. This will be an important legal proof of their violations in debt collections. Make sure that you have checked out the laws on phone call recordings in your state. In some states, you will need other party's permission before recording. In which state do you live?

Charlie-

What PDL company is threatening you with arrest? Is it an internet PDL or a storefront?

Also, if you can tell us what state you live in, how much the loan was originally, and how much you've paid, we can offer you some solid advice on how to deal with this.

And no, you cannot be arrested for defaulting on a payday loan. The worst that can happen is that a lender could serve you with papers stating they are taking you to court over this matter, and if you didn't show up, the judge would award them a default judgement, at which time they could pursue a garnishment of your wages. BUT....this is ONLY if they are a licensed lender operating legally in your state. It sounds to me as if they're not.

Give us the info listed above, and one of us will respond with more advice. :-)
