I recently looked at my credit report and saw that i have a balance of $1649. I have never bought anything on credit, and Besides debit cards with a bank, I have never had a credit card. These are all medical bills. The largest is $1288 for a cat scan when one of my daughters was about 5 months old and hit her head on a coffee table and passed out. The doctors said she was fine, but do a CAT scan anyways. Unfortunately, her medicaid was in Alabama, and we were in Georgia at the time. A couple more are from around the same time. We were staying with my folks some, still legal residents of AL, but staying for extended periods of time in GA while my husband struggled to look for a job while pastoring a very small local church. We eventually moved into a motel that offered tiny 2 rooms apartments. By the time we were starting to get settled, and he started a new job, the overseer took us out as pastor and we had to move back to AL! When we got back, my husband started have odd symptoms. Eventually he found out he had a panic disorder. Well, his meds were doing good, and we were starting to get back on our feet. He was working for the cable company grossing about $1800- $2000 a month. With almost no bills, this was awesome money! Then when pole climbing class came, his panic attacks came back. He lost his job and his insurance to go to the doc and gets meds with it. !!!! So now, am making a little money with my web design (www.tammyhartdesigns.com), it's starting to pull us out of the double power bills, etc. But I I want to be able to improve my credit. We are praying about getting even more serious about my business, so that hopefully we can get back on our feet and afford some health insurance again. I wan to get setup as an actual home business, and thought that maybe a small new business loan would be a good way to start. But.. my credit rating is "591". I have nothing to the good on my report, only to the negative. I can't afford to pay off these debts all at once, especially the $1288. so I would be most grateful if you could provide some advice. Both of my cars are broke down, so whatever I can do online, I try to do it! Thank you in advance, and for providing this great service.

Hi Tammy

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. You need to improve your credit scores before any company will lend you a loan. You can do some repair to your credit now with the help of a debt consolidation program. All the bills will be combined together into one payment plan. The consolidation company will negotiate with your creditors for a lower interest rate. Your money will go to the principal amount after enrolling them in the consolidation plan. Most creditors will also waive off the financial charges and late fees added on the principal. You should sit with a counselor and frame your payment plans. You will not face the monetary crisis after hiring a consolidation program. Things will become easier for you in the future so that your credit scores go up and you can shop for the best loan offers. Find out the perfect debt solution for you in this article. It sounds helpful to many.

 HI I am curious although I was in default on my student loans and I have consolidated them and the defaulted student loans are not paid should that be removed from my credit report? It is being reported a s charge off when it is paid. My credit score is 546 with Experian and 522 with Transunion I do not know with Equifax. I know a lot of the info is not right. My bankruptcy is not on my transunion or my Experian any longer but it is on my Equifax? How do I get them to remove it when it was dismissed and it reports dismissed It has been over 7 years now. I applied for an American Express and decided to check on my credit reports. I am trying to open up my lines of credits so I can build my numbers up. On the equifax I have a lot of collections and charge off that are over 10 years old. What do I do, when the same creditor reports an account to the credit bureaus and it is appearing more than once? This is really killing me. My numbers jumped from 589 to 546 in a month what is really going on. I would like to apply for a gas card and a merchant card at a store; I shop at on a regular basis. But before doing this, I want to know will this help my credit score less than having a Visa and MasterCard or will it help it as much or more? I am beginning to look for another house my hubby and I and I look at my credit scores WOW! What a big difference? No one is going to give me a loan for the price range of houses I am looking in to right now? How long will it take for Equifax to fix this? I know this is a lot but I have to get away from this area. Does it hurt to have revolving credit account open? How many should u have open at one time? Please advise? Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Losing my mind in IL

honiedew, it sounds that most of the information in your credit file is not correct. Place a formal dispute with the bureaus on each of the items you think incorrect. Compare these items by pulling the latest copies from the three bureaus so that you figure out the incorrect ones. The bureau will remove the items that are posted incorrectly. These inaccurate remarks are hurting your credit severely. You should put your dispute on a certified letter with return receipt requested so that you are able to track your moves later.

A revolving credit account can help towards your credit history if you are doing the payments on time. Defaults in payments directly hit the credit scoring. You need to place that in the right shape.

Wow!! Thank you. I thought I was on the right track because I am looking to purchase a new home. I will keep you posted. I will getted started on these letters right now they have more than 13 inquiries on one. Then 10 inquiries on another and like,11 inquiries on the other report, I think? This is wild. How crucial is this for me to getting my credit score up; does this in anyway affesct me at all? Also, how do I get these inquiries removed so my credit score will go up?

What does an inquiry mean? It is a simple record of someone who has accessed your credit report. Two types of credit inquiries are usually done. One type of inquiry is the result of an application for a loan or other services. This inquiry can mean a new debt that might not have possibly been reported as a debt account, but it does affect your credit scores.

There are instances when inquires can have a very small impact on the credit scores. If you have a very strong credit history, inquires can hardly affect your credit file. It severely affects on a bad credit history.

The second kind of inquiry is done when you request your own credit report, inquiries for employment purpose, account reviews by your existing creditors, and reviewing your credit report to make pre-approved credit offers. This kind of inquiry was not initiated by you. So it doesn't affect your scores. This will be for your view only when a personal copy is requested. This information is not provided to others.
