A collection agency sent me a copy of the last statement, from my credit card account, that they are handling. The statement date is Oct. 14, 2003. Payment is due Oct. 28, 2003. I did not make a payment during October. My last payment would have been either September or August, of 2003.

Please tell me what the last date of activity on this account is, and what the SOL date is.

Thankyou for your help.

Also, one more question, please.

Is sending a copy of several months of statements considered proper debt validation? The company did not send me proof that they have the right to collect a debt from me, nor did they send me my signature on a credit card agreement.

Thankyou.

When you request a debt validation from the collection agency, following information mentioned in the link below must be given to you in writing. See this link

Besides, it sounds that you are having some confusions with the date of last payment on the credit card account. Dispute the item with the collection agency on this matter and request for an updated info. Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt. You need to have some proof of this dispute at the later course.

I thought TRUE debt validation is only real when done by the original creditor. Therefore, the original documents signed by you, and the credit card are validation of the debt. Not copies. The collector needs your signature on the credit card agreement. Also, collector must provide proof that they now own your account.
