The Administrator of consumer affairs sent me copies of 2 Cease and Desist letters he sent out for me. In them it states that the loan is null and void and the debtor(me) is not obligated to pay the principal nor the finance charges. Says they may initiate civil and criminal charges...so, if i take copies of these to my bank am i entitled to a refund of my NSF charges from at least these 2 companies debits? Or will consumer affairs handle that too? The lenders who got the letters were Cash-Advance-Payday-Loan-to-1000 and Cash Direct Express..also says they are to refund any money they did collect from me.

jloomis,

A lot of Credit unions don't use chexsystems to open accounts. You might want to check that out, it's pretty easy to join them now..Usually you just have to live, work, attend school, or worship in their county. Sometimes their fees are a bit higher, but generally customer service is terrific.

Finsfan is right, my credit union only checks to make sure you don't have any negative activity over the past twelve months. They have the best customer service over anyother bank I have dealt with in the past. They worked with me on my pdl problem and allowed me to open a different account and are making sure that these companies don't pull a fast one on me.

Opened a new account through my employers credit union. I'm surprised they let me. The only thing I didn't qualify for because of this mess was a debit card, but got an ATM card...good enough for me. Still haven't worked anything out with my old bank, but going to tackle that tomorrow, and made arrangements with 2 of the pdl's, the others quit calling since consumer affairs got involved.
