I have alot of unpaid medical bills and utility bills stemming from a broken neck. I want to get them taken care of so i can clean up my credit.

Discuss everything with your counselor when he offers you the free counseling. You can get some guidance here too. How much is the total debt and which companies do you owe? Put everything under one payment plan. You will get lower interest rates in the consolidation program and some fees added on the principal amount will also be waived off. The benefits of the program are put here.

Hey toddwillis1977. Are your medical bills with the same hospital or doctor or several different ones? They shouldn't be reporting unpaid medical bills to the credit reporting agencies. As long as you are paying them something each month even if its just $5.00 a month they shouldn't take any action against you or have they already sent them to collection agents. Alot of times if you pay something on your medical bills especially with hospitals they might eventually write them off. That happened with my mom. She paid $5.00 a month for a year and the hospital ended up writing it off and sent her statement saying she didn't owe them anything.
