Is there a way to find out if a payday loan company is licensed in the state of Maryland, and if so, how do I do it?

Thanks!

The lenders are
Geneva Roth (paid off, but I think I overpaid)
VC Funding
Platimum B Services
Tremont Financial (paying on)
ICS
SJM Marketing

Like I said in my above post, payday loans are illegal in Maryland. Since you have taken the loan from these lenders, you are liable to pay back only the principal amount. The lenders are not allowed to add anything above the principal amount because of the fact that 1) they are not licensed in your state and 2) payday loans are prohibited in your state. Go! get them

By law they have to stop debiting your account when you notify them to stop. That does not mean that they will stop. I put a block on the pdl companies individually, I had to pay a fee for each one (well worth it) and when you do this you usually only have the block for 6 months and then have to renew it with your bank. But I eventually just opened up a new acct. with my credit union at their request because of the situation.
