I'm looking for a way to deal with my overwhelming credit card debt, about $19k. I'm looking at some debt consolidation companies, but am scared about affecting my credit, etc. Does anyone have any advice for me? A company you've dealt with that you trust and treated you well? I would LOVE some advice...

A debt consolidation will not hurt your credit rating. You will be benefited from it in the long run. Consider it this way. The best thing for your credit will be if you were able to make the payments on your own. But since you are unable to do this, a debt consolidation will help in your repayment process and not let you in defaults. The interest rates will also be kept at the minimum. All the bills will combine under one payment plan, thus making it easier for you. A debt counselor will be calling if you have registered here for the free counseling. Take his advice before you make the decision.
