Hello, I found this site while looking for debt relief answers. I live in California and have 3 payday loans, Paragon, Net Cash and Arrowhead Investments. I went to the bank yesterday and explained to them the problems I had created for myself. They were helpful and we decided I should close the account and open a new one, so thats done. I don't know what to do next.

Lucky for you that CA has banned these pdls. You now need to notify the pdls that you revoke your authorization for them to debit your account. Use the pdl settlement pdl letter on this site for each of these companies inserting CA's pdl laws. Send this to each of the pdls, by fax, e-mail, USPS. You also need to file a complaint with CA AG's office, you may be able to do this complaint online.

I know what you mean about sleeping at night. I felt the same way after getting help from this site. You are not alone in your struggle with these internet pdls and their tactics. You will find alot of help from members here to get through this. I'm not sure why you are having trouble signing up, keep trying.

Yes, many of us who have paid well over the principal balance and illegal interest have had our accounts marked paid in full. You must also file a complaint with your state AGs office and put that in the letter. I had one company settle with me almost the minute my AGs office hung up the phone from them. She was typing the confirmation e-mail that my account was paid in full as we spoke on the phone and I had it before the conversation ended. You may have to fight with a few for a minute, they will say you signed a contract and you agreed to follow their state laws, that won't hold, they are required to follow the borrower's state laws, end of story. They may threaten you with fraud charges and arrest, ignore the threats they are illegal and you can't be arrested. Because of CA recent stand against the internet pdls you most definately must file your complaint with them, you can do it online at their site. CA is also making these companies reimburse the consumer for the illegal charges.

You know, there's something about being able to push a few buttons to make contact with people that honestly understand and a place where you're not seen as a bad person for getting involved with these pdl companies because you were financially hanging on by your fingernails and willing to accept their terms just to be able to breathe for a couple of days.
I realize it's my own fault for taking out the loans, but I thank You and all of the people here for leading me in the right directions, so that breathing easy will happen 24/7

SAM 62, I completely understand. I was very thankful and relieved to find this site. If I were you I would fax the pdl companies the letter and then make sure you send the same letter to them by certified mail. When you inform them that you revoke authorization for them to debit funds from your account. They will tell you that they can't stop the debits but it is your right. I faxed them a letter revoking authorization to debit my account but they didn't listen so I did have to close my checking account. Just make sure you stay on top of everything and keep any information the pdl companies send you. Also, try to keep records (date/time) of any phone conversations with them especially if they are harrassing you. I've had alot of trouble with Cash Central calling and harrassing me at work. I've filed a complaint with the AG's office against them in my state and the state they are located in.

I went to the bankafter finding this site and explained it all to them and they said to close that account and then they opened a new acct for me. I'm going to fax the letters tomorrow and take your suggestion about sending them certified. I'm also going to file complaints with AG's office. Thank You for your post

Sam,

Welcome to the forums. It seems that Steelers 1 has been a great help to you already. You are not alone in the pdl mess. When I came here in December, I was in way deep and I didn't know how to get out. The people here rallied around me and supported me through the most difficult financial mess I had gotten myself and my family into. It's nice to be away from that an onto digging myself out of my regular debt hell. A year from now, I will have completed my debt settlement program and be on my way to a better financial future. I have learned a lot and it's good to see that you are taking the first steps out of the pdl trap. Keep us updated on your progress :D
