eeek! my post went away

It must have been because I somehow posted it 3 times. I'll try again!
Now that my student loan is out of rehab and I am starting to pay a new lender who bought my loan this week, when should I expect it to be off my credit report? It is still there as of last week. How long should I wait before I start wondering why it is still listed as default?
Now that my payday loans are almost paid off, the only debt I have is my student loan. Should I try and pay some charge offs on my 540 credit report that are about 4 years old, or let them drop off in 3 years? Will it help my credit if I do?
Also, I need advice on how to make landlords see that I have a good rental history and they should rent to a wonderful person like myself. Would it help if I grovel and cry?
Thanks!

Sorry! I guess I posted on the first sight I saw. I did not know they would be sent to another forum. Hard to believe I am college educated..... However, what about my last 2 questions, where do they go? I want to make sure I post correctly this time. :(
